  • I'm not sure what you mean. Can you show with a .capx? If you don't want the object to get stopped by solids, then wouldn't you just take off the solid behavior...?

  • The best way to "fake" line of sight is try having a sprite like a line connecting two objects (see the "Physics - distance joint" example with C2 for a demo). Then you can check if that object overlaps any solid.

For distance, check out the 'pick nearest' condition or the 'distance' system expression.

  • "Selected" is a text variable - you're comparing it to a number so it doesn't match! It's not a bug, just how you've set up the events.

  • OK, adding reversible animations for next build.

  • Is there a way to script the events and actions instead of using the UI?

No, it's events only in Construct 2. You could have a look at coding plugins and behaviors in the SDK, but that's generally pretty involved compared to snippets of script.

s there a way to indicate a color to be used as a transparent color when importing a frame or sprite strip?

No - Construct 2 supports full alpha channels so I didn't think it was necessary, but this has been requested a lot recently, so I guess other software hasn't caught up yet. I'd better add it - it's on my todo list now!

    latform Vs. Physics

Physics objects only interact with other physics objects, they ignore other objects completely even if they have the solid behavior. You might be interested in this tutorial on Physics.

Solid and Physics on a single object should work OK though.

Generally it's up to your game to make sure the player doesn't get 'stuck' inside solids. The platform behavior won't control your animations or events for you - it'll just try to figure out how to respond to its surroundings, and if it's stuck in a solid it can't really do anything. Your solution sounds like a good idea - invisible detectors are common in games.

    Hope that helps!

  • Oops, fixed in next build. Thanks for the clear repro.

  • The best way is to extend Construct 2 with the Javascript Plugin and Behavior SDK. The Javascript and HTML5 code is all there for you to look at after you click Export, but it's not in a format that it is easy to edit yourself. It's best to use the SDK to get custom javascript in to C2.

  • Events cannot be translated in to any remotely useful code that you'd want to read or use. So you really are better off rewriting it from scratch in other tools (but of course it will take you a lot longer!)

  • Why? What do the other platforms offer as benefit? HTML5 runs on practically anything and modern browsers have fast javascript engines and hardware accelerated rendering - that's pretty hard to beat IMO!

  • If you move an object by events the solid behavior doesn't do anything. It only affects the built-in behaviors.

Instead, just check for collisions with collision events.

  • Deleting all the instances of an object does not delete the object type. If the object is still in the project bar, it's still in the project. Delete it from the project bar to completely remove it.

  • I actually already fixed this before this post - I thought nobody had noticed :) That'll teach me to copy and paste too quickly. Fixed in next build.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • It clones the object type but does not add any instances. It should appear in the project bar - drag and drop it in to the layout to create an instance. This is by design.
