  • I'm not sure there's anything we can do about this. It seems pretty minor, I think we might leave it.

  • Thanks, fixed in next build.

  • Thanks, should be fixed in next build.

  • I don't think we can get around this, Windows is holding the image files open. You probably shouldn't modify them while C2 is open anyway, it might confuse it... so I'm going to close this as won't fix.

  • Hi prinsukun, does that GMX import correctly now? If not can you send it to me so I can try?

  • I don't understand - it appears in the expressions panel next to all the other expressions (in the Text category) and appears to be working correctly with the parameters in the correct order. find("Hello world", "world") returns 6 which is correct, no?

  • (closing as waiting for Android 4 - please try again when it's out!)

  • I think a lot of them could be, but maybe some of the more advanced uses of fluids and hinges need a newer version of Box2D that isn't yet available for the javascript version. Check out the physics demos in Construct 2's examples folder, they're a bit along those lines.

  • From my own tests I would actually say even though Chrome now has hardware acceleration, IE9 is still top. Its canvas is still about 25% faster and is even better quality too - you get nice antialiasing on object edges, which Chrome and Firefox don't appear to do.

Although we don't support it yet you can get much better performance from using WebGL, so IE could still end up slowest.

  • First, be aware it is not possible to totally secure any game. Even commercial software and AAA titles get hacked, and if they can't do it, neither can you (or us). All you can do is make it more difficult to hack.

The best thing you can do is enable 'minify script' on export. That mangles the javascript in to an unreadable mess. You can still edit it, but it's very difficult to figure out which part does what when it's like that.

  • The next build will use the PhoneGap API (i.e. not a part of HTML5) to play audio for PhoneGap-built apps. However, there's a hardware limitation that you can only play one sound at a time... so it's still going to be super basic.

I think since the PhoneGap API uses the native audio engine rather than a browser, you should be able to get OGG playing on Android and AAC on iOS. So, still no need for MP3 if that's the case.

  • I'm afraid it's a very complicated feature to implement and is not currently high on the list of priorities (it will be done eventually of course).

Currently I think the best solution is simply to use Web Storage - obviously it's a pain to try and save the state of an entire layout, but you can very easily save the current level/stage they have reached, in between separate levels.

For an RPG I suppose your best bet for now is to try that with extra stuff like your inventory/experience/etc. saved to web storage as well. So you can do it yourself via WebStorage, if you save at points between levels.

  • Try Construct 3

  • This isn't a bug - from the SDK docs:

ou cannot use browser features in the edittime, since the edittime script is interpreted by Google's V8 javascript engine rather than a real browser.

'document' is a browser feature, and there is no browser running when running the editor, so you cannot use any browser features at all! It's only the javascript engine, so assume nothing is available except the documented functions.

  • Use the expression

    WebStorage.LocalValue("my_key")

All the possible expressions that you can use in Construct 2 are listed in the expressions panel, which is floating faded-out whenever you need to enter an expression.

  • Use the 'request hi-scores' action. A moment later 'on hi-score' triggers for each hi-score, so you can append each score to a text object or whatever suits your game.
