  • We don't officially support socket.io. Can you tell me a bit more about what you are trying to do? Are you writing a third party plugin? What specifically do you think is the problem in C2?

  • Closing as not a bug, R0J0hound's explanation is correct - use dt when modifying 'ang' (which is the moving thing), not in that formula.

  • It's a mode of the sine behavior, have you looked at the 'Sine behavior - types.capx' example in the examples folder?

  • I would say this is most likely a graphics card driver problem. Try updating them and also read this.

It sounds like this is not a problem with C2 itself. It is not ordinarily possible for applications like C2 to cause blue screens and system lockups (where even the mouse stops moving). Normally when software fails the OS just kills it, tells you it crashed, and carries on fine - OSs are designed to handle software crashing just fine. Blue screens and lockups tend to be a problem in the OS. Since drivers are the cause of a lot of problems in C2 I would think its them. Apart from that it could be failing hardware or problems with the OS. So I don't think C2 is to blame, but possibly it exposes a problem in the driver or OS that other software doesn't.

  • You could try using the 'value only' mode of the sine behavior and apply the transformation yourself.

  • We were on holiday this weekend, sorry for the delay in responses.

We always appreciate a mention of the tool to help spread the word if you want to help support us. We don't mind people customising the logo to the style of their game either. However I would prefer the original logo to be used without modification if possible, because it helps create a consistent brand image. In other words, it would be best to use the original unless you specifically want to fit the style of something else.

  • I think very few people actually use the crop mode, because the scale modes (especially with aspect ratio preserving) are much more useful.

The opposite question is: why should crop mode limit the view to the size of the layout? The intent of crop mode is that the viewport size is simply exactly the same as the window size, so there is always one pixel in the layout for one pixel on the screen with no extra scaling or cropping applied so you can handle screen sizing yourself with your own logic. I think if it automatically cropped anything it wouldn't be achieving this goal.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • This has already been on my todo list a while. I'll see if I can bump it up.

  • It is not possible to make a single window size that works on all devices. You must support multiple screen sizes. See supporting multiple screen sizes.

  • Some users have done banner adverts, animated titles, educational games and simple apps. However we are designing Construct 2 mainly as a game editor.

  • Data is stored in the object, so if the object is global all its storage is global too, and if not then it will be limited to a particular layout only.

  • The game is deliberately paused when you switch tab or minimise the window. vtrix's solution is the only way around that.

  • Sure, you just need nine images which are stretched differently. Is there any part in particular you're stuck on?

  • Sorry for the late reply, I was off this weekend...

You can fix your plugin but it would be a little complicated. To tile a spritesheet frame you need to:

    1) make a new canvas and get a 2D context

    2) drawImage() the sprite's image on to it (you'll have to see the new code in Sprite's draw() which shows how to draw the part from the spritesheet)

    3) make a new Image() and set its src to canvas.toDataURL() - now you have a standalone image of the section from the spritesheet

    4) now you can make a pattern of that image and draw the section tiled

I can't immediately think of a way to get this working with WebGL, but you could just turn it off for now.

It's a good point why sprites can't be tiled and why Tiled Background exists at all. But Tiled Background has a slightly lower overhead than Sprite, and in future it may be possible to better optimise Tiled Background based on the fact it's simpler than sprite.
