  • Knifegrinder is right, usually if you encode a mono wav file it will come out half as big as a stereo file anyway, even if the output file is stereo, because the sound data on both channels is the same. So downmixing to mono before importing to C2 should work fine.

Goury - I'm afraid it's still not that simple. Have a look through our blog post archives where we cover it in more detail. Because of patents around AAC, we must pay a license even just to distribute a free encoder. This is why we use Windows 7's built-in encoder - it means we are not distributing an encoder, so we don't need a license. Windows 7's encoder is not very good, but I don't really care - it's only for Internet Explorer and Safari who could support the free Ogg Vorbis format, but don't because they have ulterior motives. So I'm not too bothered if sound quality isn't great in those browsers.

  • The letterbox modes aren't supported in CocoonJS yet... I'd be surprised if they worked!

  • Nope. I wouldn't have said that if there was.

  • Ah, I guess AJAX doesn't work in CocoonJS then... don't worry about making a bug report, I'll see if I can stop it breaking it for the next build.

  • Actually upon further investigation, our AAC encoder doesn't support downmixing to mono. I'm not sure it's worth adding if it doesn't work with some formats - best to use other software to process your WAVs how you want then import them as mono in advance.

  • We have 3 encoders involved in the audio import process (FLAC decode, OGG encode, AAC encode) and we can only support the features in common to all of them. Unfortunately since the AAC encoder is only a very simple one built in to Windows 7, we can only support 96 / 128 / 160 / 192 kbps, since the encoder doesn't support any other values. However, it looks like it's straightforward to add a downmix-to-mono option, so I'll see if I can add that.

If you need more advanced options beyond that, I would recommend finding your own encoders. We're not really looking to make C2 a super-advanced audio encoder program.

  • wgfunstorm - it must be a third party plugin, because the official plugins and behaviors should all work OK. Note from the OP "Also note anything using jQuery will not work because jQuery is not included in these exporters" - you need to check for plugins or behaviors which call jQuery, because jQuery and anything DOM related is not supported in CocoonJS.

  • Please see how to report bugs. Can you share the affected project with steps to reproduce the problem? There is very little we can do without this.

  • Moving to Bugs forum, will check out soon.

  • CreatedorMade - if you are having problems please email licensehelpzgs@scirra.com and we'll try to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. We started using some new store software yesterday, so there might be a few hiccups involved, but rest assured we will make sure you get your license to you.

  • nemo - please include the error messages you got! It's impossible for us to do anything about it if you don't include them.

Also nemo / ludei - in CocoonJS we have to play music tracks differently, using a monophonic track. So you can only play one thing from the 'Music' folder at a time, but you can play multiple sounds from the 'Sounds' folder polyphonically. I agree this is a little inconvenient, hopefully a better way to auto-detect music can be added in future.

Kyatric - CocoonJS (and directCanvas) support multi-touch even on Android 2.x, which is one of the nice things about them. (It is only the browser software in 2.x which does not support multitouch, the phone hardware supports it fine.)

vAnte - can you try again but without minifying? This will give a clearer error message and help us solve the problem.

  • It's not disabled for free edition users, it should in fact always be enabled without being able to turn it off. However we had issues with the start page crashing some people's computers, and weren't able to fix it since it was a rare and difficult to reproduce problem. Instead if Construct 2 detects it crashed last time it ran it will disable the start page. Unfortunately in the free edition the option is still disabled so you can't turn it back on again... you could try just pressing the 'Start page' button on the ribbon to get it back.

  • Have a look at CocoonJS and directCanvas.
