  • Not really - most browsers reduce the game to 1 frame per second for inactive tabs, and Construct 2 just pauses the game in that case to prevent games proceeding while the user is not looking at the game. You could use the Browser object's 'On suspended' and 'On resumed' events to detect this happening and work out how long has passed since suspending.

  • Use the Image Format dialog from the image editor.

  • The easiest solution is just to change the opacity, or tint it red, or use some other visual indication to mean "invalid".

  • Are you sure you downloaded the right version of VS2012? You need "Visual Studio 2012 Express for Windows 8", not a trial version.

  • How many sounds exactly are you trying to play? Construct 2 caches audio tracks for faster playback, but this could use a lot of memory if you have *lots* of sounds. Perhaps moving them to the Music folder (which is cached differently) would help too.

  • If you're using this tutorial, you should be using a full URL to the CSS file (e.g. fonts.googleapis.com/.../something.css) rather than just the CSS filename by itself.

  • Try Construct 3

  • Ah, I see what is happening now. Your events conflict with the Drag & Drop behavior. DnD automatically handles mouse clicks and starts dragging the object. Your events move the object with the DnD behavior on a click. So now your events depend precisely on the order of whether the event or the behavior receives the click first:

If the event receives the click first, it moves the object under the mouse. Then DnD receives it second, sees the object is under the mouse, and starts dragging it.

If DnD receives the click first, it notices the object is not under the mouse, so ignores the click and does not start dragging the object. Then the event receives the click and moves the object under the mouse, but it's too late, DnD has already decided not to drag it.

You should not depend on the order of events like this, it's undefined by design. Basically, don't create events that conflict with the automatic handling done by behaviors. Rearranging the objects in the object bar can change the order in which events are received, which you shouldn't depend on anyway. Workaround: don't use a behavior, just code the events to move the object yourself. Closing as won't fix.

  • It's because you use a transparent layer... in this case the 'Clear background' property being 'Yes' ought to prevent the trails, but it didn't work in WebGL mode. Thanks for the find, should be fixed in the next build - just make the bottom layer non-transparent for the time being as a workaround.

  • Closing as can't fix: our code is very simple. We just listen for events the browser fires, and it seems in some cases it's the browser that isn't firing events, rather than Construct 2's code. I've read that browser makers seem to be in disagreement as to what "offline" and "online" really mean, so it may be that the feature is currently broken in browsers.

It definitely works if you use Firefox and select 'Work offline'. That indicates at least our code is working correctly; I think it must be browser bugs that they don't fire the online/offline events according to network connectivity for some reason.

  • It doesn't lag at all here, a solid 60 FPS in Chrome.

If you display the object count, it's constantly going up, which will gradually slow down the game more and more. Make sure you destroy objects that are not needed.

  • Closing (especially since the OP has edited)

  • mindgear - it is often extraordinarily difficult to debug large projects. I would strongly recommend you find a way to reproduce the problem from a new project.

  • Which version of Windows are you using and is it up to date (latest service pack + Windows updates)? Have you scanned your computer for viruses/malware as well?
