  • Looks like you installed a third party plugin incorrectly. Closing, please use the full bug report form if you want this investigated further, and note we don't support third party plugin bugs here.

  • Global variables don't affect the estimated memory use in the status bar; that's exclusively determined by the images in the project. Compared to images, a global variable occupies negligable memory.

  • The engine definitely does destroy all non-global objects when switching layout, so I would say the most likely cause is you accidentally made some objects global.

Still, you can already do a 'destroy all objects' type event by putting a 'destroy' action under a 'pick all instances' event.

  • vikerman - that's pretty cool, but unless it's a real browser engine it's going to be a big headache to support, and it's missing a cloud compilation system like Ludei have. I'm not sure we could officially support it since then we'd be obliged to fix all the quirks and issues that crop up, but if it works unofficially then you can still go ahead and use it!

  • Construct 2 has a real event stack, meaning triggers can fire, a whole bunch of events can run in the trigger, and then it returns to where it left off. This isn't specific to 'On created', it happens with any trigger, and there are several kinds of triggers that can run during other actions/events (notably the Function object).

It's best not to think about it as "jumping up and down the event sheet", that's not quite accurate. It's more like this:

    • Running a loop

    ---- Create an object

    ------- Trigger 'On created'

---------- 'On created' conditions, actions and subevents run

---- Next action in the loop after 'Create an object'

So it's more like temporarily nesting the trigger events beneath the action, then carrying on the action list.

  • No, as I said in my post it is most likely actually a very small difference, but it's interacting badly with V-sync.

  • Locking this thread. Please take this discussion elsewhere; it is no longer suitable for the Scirra Forums. I would also encourage anyone interested in the OP's listing to be extremely wary of copyright or trademark issues (why not put all that effort in to an original game instead?)

  • dt is irrelevant when talking about 'Wait'. The action already takes a time in seconds, rather than a time in frames, so you don't need to use dt with it.

  • You can use JSON-based formats as a workaround (data saved and loaded from Array or Dictionary).

  • Yeah, basically the errors are because c2runtime.js is missing or can't be accessed, which implies only index.html was uploaded or it's the only public file. You need all the other files there too.

  • The latest builds of C2 are showing webfonts again for me - are you using the latest Chrome? Might have been a Chrome bug they quickly fixed.

  • It's irresponsible not to test regularly on a range of browsers and devices. It seems a lot of people don't bother, but it's absolutely essential!

  • Construct 2 has built-in URLEncode and URLDecode expressions, you need to use them when posting AJAX requests.

  • Try Construct 3

  • The performance of comparing strings vs. numbers is irrelevant. Despite that the best solution is probably —'s! If you mark the variables const then that guarantees they cannot be changed, and also prevents them appearing in the 'Set variable' dropdowns.

  • We always require it because it makes it quicker to deal with the many bug reports we get and also eliminates the possibility the steps you describe do not reproduce the issue because you forgot something. Reopened, will investigate soon.
