The Official Introduce Yourself Thread

  • Hi...

    That's it...

I'm a computer nerd pursuing a degree. I'm torn between Unity3d, HTML5, and Scirra construct. Though, whatever I choose, it would be great to learn enough to use Scirra as a rapid prototyping system.

I like tutorials, I like to tread where others have gone before venturing off into my own insane worlds.

  • No editing. XD Nice to know. No matter how much I try to deny it, there is still a piece of me that wishes to create videogames. And even if I've never finished coding one, I have tons of designs that, someday, I hope, will show you worlds beyond your imagining.

    Welcome aboard <img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • parsed: "I'm torn between Unity3d, HTML5, and Scirra construct".

In fact, Construct 2 currently exports to HTML5, so the two are not mutually exclusive. Having set out to write games for HTML Canvas using raw JavaScript, I can tell you that Construct 2 makes it an order of magnitude easier and faster!

    Welcome and enjoy!

  • Hi!

My name is Teo, and I'm a 25 year old aspiring freelance illustrator/game artist. I've been making amateur games for a good ten years now. Right now I'm studying 3d graphics, and working on the side with the graphics for the Unity game Wilfred the Hero. I've decided to give Construct 2 a try because it seems friendly enough for me as an artist to do all the scripting myself, and it was too long since I made something completely on my own. I'm still up for commissions if anyone wants graphics and is willing to pay :) I have a lot of experience in working with 2d (and 3d) graphics.

Some of the finished games I've made graphics for:

    Sunset Over Imdahl(2004)

    Wilfred the Hero (2d version)(2005)

    Lament(Release on steam coming up!)

    Now let's do this :)

Welcome aboard, hope you'll have a good time with C2.

  • Well, I guess I should introduce myself formally, as I have Irritated enough people with all my noob questions already...

My name is Matthew, I live in Southern California, and have a healthy family of a wife and 4 kids under 13... I don't get much time on the computer as I work full time and (again) have 4 Young Ones. But I have a deep passion for creating games.

I cam across Construct back in mid 2009 and have used it off and on since then. I dinked around with it to create games for my kids to play, which they enjoyed. However I do want to develop my skills so I can create Apps for tablets and social media sites in the near future for Profit.

I have some coding knowledge, but not much. I am very good at conceptualizing 3D and creating animations. I am OK with Blender(3D), Inkscape, GIMP, but I am still getting up to par with Construct 2.

I love to help people, but time is my enemy. As I get better with Construct 2, I will post more to help out.

P.S. Thanks to Yann, Kyatric, and many others who have put up with me so far!

  • Hi everybody.

My name is Hakan. I'm from Turkiye.

I am an electronic technician and civil engineer.

I am intrested in programming since 80's.

I know BASIC, some ASSEMBLY, Visual Basic etc.

    I like programming.

I found Construct while searching an engine for HTML 5.

I think HTML 5 is promising structure for future applications and games.

    That's all for now.

    See you later again.

  • I realized that I didn't introduce myself.

So, my name is Greg(ory), I'm a 27 yrs old illustrator who works in an art department in the Universal's animation studio, based in Paris (we did 'Despicable Me', the upcoming 'The Lorax', and the sequel of 'Despicable Me 2').

    I started with no-coding tools with the Clickteam's klik'n'play, in 1998.

I stayed 'loyal' still to Multimedia Fusion 2, but I was bored to have to pay for each new runtimes.

I use essentially Construct to make applications, that's why I decided a month ago to develop plugins for it. I knew HTML language, but nothing in javascript so I had to learn (I still do) it, that's finally not so hard.

What else ? Cause of my gig, I usually speak english everydays, but my english may be inexact. I'm sorry for that.

Thanks everyone, and let's make the community and the powerful of Construct 2 bigger and bigger ;)

  • I used to be a SQL DB developer, wrote specs for others to develop front end websites into the SQL DB.

Now I want to create a 'game' to explore future scenarios about our world but having not gamed in many years I am trying to figure out where the hell to start. I looked at using flash <img src="smileys/smiley35.gif" border="0" align="middle" /> animation (say no more), I know in my mind what I want to achieve but have no real idea of how to go about it - I also want to send info about decisions users make during the game back into a DB. I have a year to produce a deliverable for user testing.

I think I might need it.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • I'm from Germany and i like creating games.

In my freetime i create games <img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle" /> or pictures with Blender and GIMP.

I've got my own (german) homepage on which i work whenever i'm bored.

Of course, i don't just spend time on the computer.

I am a normal teenager, i read books play guitar and do sports.

And i hope to win the rotary competition.

  • Hey Gamers!

I'm an actionscript coder from germany and love to get creative in every way. I heard of Construct from a friend, because i wanted to design games without coding, and got informed of the early adopter of c2 in release 12. <img src="smileys/smiley32.gif" border="0" align="middle"> Tested and buyed the stuff few days later...

I think the modular idea about this tool in version 2 is kinda genius.

So if u like Construct 2 as i do, and want to get deeper pro inside game design, feel free to register on the first german language construct 2 forum i recently set up, Construct-Games.de

  • Hello everybody,

    Danny, 35, the Netherlands..

A pleasure to be here, i am sure :)

    What do i want?

Create an arty farty, story driven platform game. Kinda like Limbo i guess.. but with an inventory function (and more color whehehe).

Not sure yet if this will be doable in Construct2 so that would be my first question :) I know the functions are there but i don't know how smoothly a big level with lots of grass doing sines and moving platforms runs in html5 for example. Also the resolution will have to be 1280 x 700 for fullscreen play which in Flash became sluggish instantly.

I will be testing exactly that today. *nods

    Do i have skillz?

    Not really :p

I know some Photoshop, Flash, Illustrator, html/css, lsl, 3DsMAX, Poser, and some less known apps.

I realize some will be more usefull here than others and the knowledge i have i each department varies quite a bit. Enough to not let it hinder my use of Construct2 and create my own content i would say *nods

So all i really need is (an) engine(s) so i can get to the good stuff..

    :p

Respect and happy times and all that :)

  • Hello!

    Jos, 31, from Portugal.

I'd think it would be nice to share a bit of my insanity in this forum. I bought Construct 2 a few minutes ago on a bit of an impulse buy, can't wait to get home and start hacking a few stuffs.

I'm much interested in Android, so I'll be using Construct 2 to it, as I'm brewing a few ideas already. :)

See you on the flip-side. :)

Oh, yeah, no adopter badge yet. :p

  • Hi my name is Erich, username SEAC. I have been a developer of video games since 1982, when I worked for Synapse and Atari software. I very excited about Construct2, and I think there is great potential for the merging of old school games and the new social network market. <img src="smileys/smiley32.gif" border="0" align="middle" />
