The Official Introduce Yourself Thread

  • Hi I'm Aron,

I've only been programming for 3 years; the original goal being making games. So I experimented first with JavaScript, then move onto Visual Basic, C++, Java, Python and Ruby. Finally after watching a Video from the Google I/O 2009 Keynote about html5, I decided that building games on the web was the way to go. I liked the idea of developing html5 games because it is low cost, cross platform and I could use my skills in JavaScript.

The only problem with developing html5 games was there were no good libraries or game engines witch console and pc developers had the luxury of. So developing html5 games was became a long and laborious process where you were forced to reinvent the wheel.

Although I was wiling to develop my own solution, I never had the time to write the engine or code library. Today I am pleased to have discovered that Scirra have done all the hard work with Construct! So now we can just get on with making games <img src="smileys/smiley4.gif" border="0" align="middle">

I am looking forward to putting Construct2 to the test with developing games and apps.

  • Hello, my name is Orgmoy. I'm very interested in pushing Construct 2 to create unique things... Games, websites, whatever. I see a lot of potential... So I'm probably gonna throw down the money for it real soon. It's cheap! I'll most likely be using the forum to seek out tutorials, have questions answered, and share my games when they're finished.

  • Hi, I'm Sam Joseph and I teach a Game Programming and Design class online at Hawaii Pacific University: techhui.com/events/csci-3651-game-programming-at

We've been using GameMaker and Unity3D and are interested to see what Construct has to offer!

  • Hi! Havok here.

Found the original Construct a while ago looking for something other than Gamemaker.

Got busy with other projects in Unity3d and getting closer to finishing a game on there. 3D PC/Mac

However, wanting to dabble with HTML5 web games and such I came back to Construct 2 when it was announced. Used to be a Flash web developer a long time ago Flash 5 and 6. When I have time I play around with it. Still learning it though but want to start prototyping some games I have in mind soon.

  • Hi, I'm Zaketh.

I found Construct 2 searching for a way to make games easily. Since I really liked the free version, I decided to buy the standard one, and now I really look forward to make great and entertaining games that others can enjoy. <img src="smileys/smiley2.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • Hello guys I'm Pedro and I'm new to gaming developing, but i'll be posting my tests here.I just have some questions,I don't know if this is the right place,if isn't sorry:

-There is a way to make games with 3rd person view(3d i guess),like Zelda or something? There is a tutorial about it?

-This only makes like browser games? Can I make a good rpg game with this,or its better a more complex program? This program make exucutables(like any desktop game?

thats all,if I like the program i'll sure buy it :D

  • PedroCaparelli

    1) No, C2 is a 2D game engine. A link to the past style is entirely possible, though.

    2) It will be entirely capable of making RPGs when it's a little more complete (needs families and functions, mainly. Well, technically they aren't needed for an RPG, but they make things MUCH easier). It's almost there already.

Executables that are basically a wrapper for an HTML5 game are already possible, though it's not directly implemented in C2 (have to do it yourself). A native EXE exporter being made at some point is very likely either by Scirra or someone else with the exporter development kit when it is released.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • Though this is actually my 5th post, i do want to introduce myself.

I go by the name alias 'The Mighty Atom', the same name that was given to one particular episode of the that British supermarionation show from the 60'ies.

Just started working with Construct and it's lots of fun, despite the fact that it's still being worked on.

Im very active in the Half-Life mapping/level design community known as TWHL (The Whole Half-Life) Take a look and find my profiles to see my maps and mods.

Im a also a space geek and i love rockets and space, as well as NASA. Too bad to see the space shuttle retire. Looking forward to its successor.

Im also pretty decent with the Visual Basic .NET programming language, but there still many area's im not familiar with yet.

Well, i guess that's all i have to share for now.

    See you on the forums! <img src="smileys/smiley32.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • I am a bit late for this topic but doing it for the badge as well xD

Hi I'm Donatas, I live in Ireland and I'm currently 18 years old. I love to try and develop games, haven't started college for game making but will in one year and I have been trying to learn game making for couple of years. I currently like construct 2 as it's easy software to use and it uses a good language for output.

    Thanks.

  • Boa noite a todos,

Estou no Brazil e estou registrado na Apple como desenvolvedor de aplicaes para ios. Estou gostando do produto. Espero poder fazer grandes aplicativos para facebook, Android e IOS.

  • Hi hi! I'm going to start off by stating I am no good at introductions.. but I always give it a shot, nonetheless!

My name's Savanna, I'm an avid gamer at heart and a starving artist. I've always wanted to dabble in anything video game related! Be it concept art, or even development. I stumbled upon Construct via youtube and was ecstatic to see all the possibilities it holds. So, I jumped right into this site and have been reading, learning, and studying.. in hopes if gaining the knowledge I need to develop some awesome games!

    I really hope to utilize this program and bring my art and stories to life! As of right now, I've been tossing ideas back and forth with my better half on a side-scrolling RPG. We are currently drawing everything out and reading about construct. I'm going to try my best to steer clear of 'discouragement' as I seem to find myself gravitate there quicker than I expect at times >_<;

Anyway, I'm a nerdy gamer and I loves it.

    See ya around!

  • Hey everyone! Just starting with Construct 2 today! It looks very promising and I hope I can contribute to the community!

I've been a software developer for about 10 years and have made a few small games in the past as side projects. <img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • Hey everyone,my name is Craig Corporon from Nova Scotia, Canada. Been playing video games since the mid-eighties and have always wanted to be a part of the industry. Found myself with some free time so putting together a video game development/production/marketing company. We are in pre-launch, only putting things together a few days ago. The name may be silly, there was a facebook vote amongst friends and this was the clear winner. If anyone gets bored and wants to design a logo feel free :P

edit: The slogan is also highly changeable :P

    Shameless plug: http://funchowder.com/

We will be concentrating on casual and HTML5 games, while also shamelessly pluging Scirra's Construct 2 every chance we get.

    Whew!!!!!

  • Hello everyone, my name is Santos from Spain. Well it took a long time on video games, playing more than anything but I've always tried to do something on my own. I am a fan of indie developers and have been my biggest inspiration to try for myself.

Hopefully with Construct 2 is able to create something fun and at least able to get opinions. I'll see you around here.

    A greeting.

  • Hey everybody.

I think I may be an older person on this forum, but that's ok with me, as long as I'm learning. :)

I'm a husband, father, musician, teacher and I work in a computer lab at a middle school. I love my job and am hoping to include a section of my class on basic video game design. I've tried other programs but they've seemed too complicated, this is the first I've found to be mostly user friendly. This forum has also already been very helpful! Thanks!

In my spare time (not much) I write a ton of music. You can find some of it here at New Cool Now Music

I write silly and fun songs and more serious "indie folk" (Elliot Smith meets Sufjan in a bar and hugs him gently) type music.

I've written music for a few video games before, but I'm not much of an electronic type of musician, though I can do a lot with just Garageband and a midi-keyboard.

Here's the first game I'm working on now. My First or Second Game Attempt It's a capx file.

    Thanks for the love everyone.

    Peace,

    Steve
