Does anyone have a recommendation for a free screen recorder? I currently use icecream screen recorder from the windows store on my toshiba, and it has a low frame rate.
I use videopad video editor which is free and they have a great addon called Debut video capture which has fast frame capture for action games.

If you on Windows 10, use Xbox Game Bar.
Just press Win+G while playing your game.
In the latest versions of C2, you can also record videos of the canvas from events.
I am using nvidia built-in recorder, get the best results, but you need a geforce 600+
I haven't tried the canvas recording yet though, sounds interesting.
From a Youtuber - OBS is the best screen recording software.
We ran several tests with the popular game recorders and the majority of them failed because they either couldn't record games which run with more than 1 process or other mostly unknown reasons probably caused by NWjs. The following is my opinion but if you're looking for a paid recorder I'd say run with Action!.
In terms of free game recorders OBS Classic would be my choice, even though game recording doesn't seem to work (window recording works fine though).
Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.
Yep, OBS works quite nicely. I use Handbrake to compress the result afterwards.
For me Action! Mirillis works fine. I'm using it for about 3 months, never had any problems.
If you are looking for a free screen recorder no watermark, no time limit with professional features, built-in video editor: ActivePresenter is the first choice. 2nd choice is OBS Studio. Last choice is Apowersoft free online screen recorder. Choosing which screen recorder depend on your needs. tunefab.com/screen-recorder TuneFab Screen Recorder is the best screen recorder for it is not only a screen recorder but also an audio recorder. You can have a try.
I like FastStone Capture, it's good software. They also have a very good image viewer for Windows, a million times better than the default Windows image viewer...
