  • Hi, i'm looking for some Pixel art for my new game that I'm buildning. Basically, I need a a player that the user can customise, so different heads and clothing and hair. I also need some RPG icons such as swords and magics, and potions and currency.

I would also need backgrounds for toolbars that I can tile. And also the platers need to be animated for different battle sequences.

I only need the players facing to the side. I'm looking for graphics similar to those of Habbo. Anyone know where I could find these, or any good tutorials so I can start making them myself?

hi, there is a site called 'the spriters resource'

also there are plenty of artists on here that sell their work, some even give free..

under the open topic section, there is a thread to a link for a pixel art course...

Hi :) I looked at the spriters resourse, but they didn't have the style of pixel art I wanted.

Also I dont really have the money to buy the art either.

But I am nterested in that tutorial you mentioned, I looked in the forum but didnt find it, could you post a link please?

your welcome.Hope you find what you are looking for. I've looked at the Habbo style character's, I think with a little practice you could produce something quite similar to it.. ( I had a little go- I tried to copy the first image ..<img src="https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/157237874/1a1aHabboAlt-1.jpg" border="0" /><img src="https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/157237874/Untitled.png" border="0" /> <img src="https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/157237874/habbo2.png" border="0" />

    have you checked 'deviant art''

    browse.deviantart.com/art/Habbo-Naruto-107281420

there is quite a few on there.. you have to see if you are allowed to use images..

also youtube 'how to draw habbo' and other sites if you google ' how to draw habbo'

  • Wow, this stuff is great, this is basically what I need, but I need to put them in different poses for battling and stuff. But yeah, this stuff is coo, thank you! :)

it shouldn't be hard to animate and select different items/ clothes etc.. find a sprite you can use and should be able to adapt it..

    I've been playing around tonight with one <img src="https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/157237874/habbohorse34.png" border="0" />

To be honest, you can't really be picky when looking for 'free' art for something like this. I see a lot of people asking for free stuff but when presented with solutions or resources they say things like "nah, I need something more" or something like that. That luxury is kind of void without either doing it yourself or paying for it.

Unless of course you're fortunate enough to come across an artist that likes what you're working on or just has the time and wants to work with you in creating the art that you would like.

With that said, I think that your best bet would be to look for the 'style' that you want which in your case is Habbo related. You can just gather some reference sprites for the style and then practice trying to recreate them yourself, editing along the way. Animating them will require more time and a little more effort though and finding all of what you asked for for free will be tough and chances are the art might not match up, but I'm sure you can find some nice free assets as placeholders to get your project going.

I would post some links to a few places but I can't post links until 500rep and if you just Google'd a few things the first couple of links would most likely be what I was going to post anyhow.

Search through DeviantArt for Pixel Art tutorials, you will find almost if not all of the information you need to get started on creating your own pixel art and if you want to get a more visual/audio learning experience then there is a pixel art course by CGCookie under the ConceptCookie section. Which I think is the one that you were already linked to.

Try looking at some platformer sprites too when searching on Google instead of just typing RPG because for your battle scenes they should be very usable and using them as reference for your attacks will yield a nicer set of moves and or specials. Just a suggestion for someone new, just getting into it. I hope you find what you're looking for or at least find what you need to be able to make your own!

    Good Luck

    Patrick

  • is the game going to play like the old school Final Fantasy titles?

  • Nope, basically it's a turn based multiplayer game, there going to be a community and you can challenge other people to battles. It's kinda hard to explain...

Oh ok, I only asked because I was trying to get a better understanding of the sprites you would need.

I think I understand from what you just said, the kind of game you're hoping to create.

you can use the sprites that I put on here if they are of any help.. but not the first one as its not mine.. it shouldn't be hard to adapt them..
