Casino? money? who knows? but the target is the same!
  • Hi guys,

Im a new bie on game development (I just quitted my job to bootstrap my game business), I just temporarily give up on Unity (its powerful but takes to much times and I dont need it all those features) and now focusing on C2 as a viable solution to make simple game easily.

My idea is to create HTML5 simple games (one game a week maybe?) convert them to iOS and sell them on Appstore. What do you guys think? is C2 a viable solution? are you guys satisfied and profitable with your business models?

    Thanks

  • Of course. C2 is the best I have ever seen .

  • CocoonJS works, for small games especially. Just remember to keep your memory use low and test with all the devices you are planning to support from the beginning and you should be fine.

The market is very tough and saturated. Generally very small percent of the games make money, but as you have already started your business, you probably already knew that. You just need to stand out somehow, build some reputation and see where things go. Good luck!

  • Wouldn't it have been smarter to have tested your abilities at earning money making games before quitting your job. You're on the dole, aren't you?

  • I'd calculate some more time than one week per game .. i haven't deployed a self made game on app store yet but i've been following the C2's export to mobile device possibilities for a while now. I think it has become a lot better in comparison to when i started with it when appMobi and Intel XDK were used. a big problem which i encountered is: where do you get your sprites from? drawing them by yourself will also cost u a lot of time ..

    cheers!

lol yes of course I tested, I already making money from some kids apps I been making and I think with games I should make even more..

Thanks for the heads up! I plan to make uber simple games (aka Flappy Birds) so I really hope to cut the developing time using C2 and test if it fits my needs.

Well for now Im using free royalty stuff, but I consider to hire an external graphic guy

  • I'm been pretty upset with CocoonJS. Sure you can deploy with it, but what about making money? I found a better solution: EJecta and wrote up a tutorial about it today.

  • Hey Taurian,

    thanks for the tut.

Always wanted to try out Ejecta for doing the iOs Export.

Going to try it right now

Do you have any experiences regarding audio, ajax and ads?

  • Sure -- But I haven't tested Ajax with Ejecta + Xcode, but I don't see a reason why it wouldn't work. Especially when WebSockets do.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Just tried it, works like charm.

Also have the impession its much faster than cocoon. But that might be subjective.

Question though, why is the package name always ended with .Ejecta - can I change that anyhow? Seems like that last part is fixed.

    Anyway awesome work.

  • It is possible, it's just difficult there. It's under Target >> Info

    "Bundle Settings"

  • Got it in the info.plist thanks

The Ejecta Plugin is amazing, only took me a few minutes to add Gamecenter Integration now No more Ludei Splashscreen. yay

Back to topic, now i am more than satisfied with construct2 and ios.
