  • Hey, I just started using Construct, and this tutorial is the one that most identifies with what I want out of this. Yet Box.net has decided not to work for me. Is there an alternate place for these tutorial files I can get them at? Or can someone repost them please?

  • Thanks everyone, I'm glad you've found the tutorials useful!

Welcome to the forumns! Can you access files at mediashare or dropbox?

  • Yeah, I can access all those. Is Box.net still active? For the past 2 weeks it's said the connection was reset.

Whatever works is fine. I hope to be working with this all weekend, and I'm working on my art right now, so no rush really.

    Thanks

  • Is Box.net still active?

Yes, I upload and see downloads from it every week. You must have some restriction from where you are at.

No worries though. I hosted the series (1- 5) at Mediafire. I personally don't like it much because of the popups and adds, but hopefully you can reach them there. I'll keep them up there (mediafire) for a few weeks at least.

  • Thanks for posting them so quickly. I'll get started on them soon as the weekend gets here.

  • Hi there,

first of all: Many thanks for this project! Not only this tutorial but this whole Construct thing itself!

There just can't be enough free stuff out. (btw. this is the only reason why I allowed Windows to exist any further on my drive ) Please keep your work up!

So but now to my questions:

    1. In part 2 of the tut, after setting the Overlapping-Event with Jill. When Im running it in Debug mode and observe the Private Variable it does'nt change. Is'nt it supposed to be? and

    2. A little constructive one: At the bottom of page 8 we should add a new Variable to Jill. Well, isn't that the one, we already created on Page 7?

    3. Another little thing, you have to create the castle_key object on Layer 1! Not on 2 as mentioned otherwise it wont be there after setting the scroll rate for the HUD.

Maybe a stupid Noob-thing but its a little confusing.

    Anyways,

    have nice days everybody

  • Ok, sorry just figured out, that the "Trigger Once" was above the overlapping so please forgett about question 1.

  • So but now to my questions:

Thanks for the feedback and finding bugs in the docs. Once I get some more free time I plan on going through all of the tuts and fixing bugs and typos. I'll make sure to add your stuff to the list!

  • I finally got a chance to sit and go through these tuts. Just like platform school, it's well presented and bloody easy to grasp! And coming from an artists standpoint, that's cool factor +1.

As for ideas (not sure if this was mentioned), as an extension to the inventory tutorial, how about showing once an item is equipped, it appears on your character for use.

    Thx for the effort!

Thanks for commenting! Great idea. I thought about it when writing the tutorial, but didn't do it for simplicity. As I add future tuts this sounds like a good idea to incorporate.

  • Awesome! And this could actually lead into something like character customization dress up avatars FTW!!
