It's not always clear what some projects are about. I'm finding half of the topics in 'Your Creations' and 'Uploads' not descriptive enough to convince me to download the file as well as makes browsing a bit confusing. Example:

    Topic Name: Infiltrate

Content: I was bored last night and played with the RTS behavior and line of sight... and out came this.

And imagin what might happen when Construct will be more popular, attracting loads of fresh users.

So that's why I think that in every project/upload topic should be better explained with more descriptive text and contain at least 2 sreenshoots and that's should became a rule. What do you think?

  • I don't think a rule is necessary, but it's obviously helpful if posters of games or engines put up screenshots so people can gauge interest.

rmxp.net has got this rule, and since long time ago rmxp.pl made it as well, it only did for its best. Besides it doeas look more estetic and proffesional, than at the moment. Just my thought.

  • If you don't want to download a game or engine without screenshots you don't have to, and that is the creator's loss if they aren't willing to put up information.

Yeah, i agree, however i think thatwhole forum will present it self better overall with better structurisez and detailed topics.

  • Not as a rule, no. But as a guideline, sure. Post a few guidelines for posting creations, sticky it and kiss it goodbye.

Yeah, i gues it's better then nothing ;p

Think is ok. Maybe you could write something like 'the best way to present your project is to split it in to few parts: Story, Type, Characters, Features, Screenshots'.

As well I would change topic name in to something like 'Read before post - How best to post creations'.

Edit@ You could add box.net for hosting games and images. I'm finding it verry friendly. Another one for images could be imageshack.

  • I don't think it's best to tell people how to lay out their submissions, but I'll add box.net.

It could work as a hint.

    It is there it already.

Rich@ Could you create links in the thread to those services?

  • Why can't I be vague and catch a nap? At least there is a file and it isn't a thread of nothing. This isn't a problem.

  • Screenshots are nice. I really, really wish more people would take the time to post screenshots.

But you can't really make them .

I suppose those who care should just try to lead by example. If more people post screenshots of their work, then others will follow suit.
