  • Hello. Hope this is the right place for this? OK. Exporting project using Webview2 for a windows game .exe single file. I go through the menu choices webview2, x64, bundle single. But when it completes export, I am left with project directory - ok - subdirectory x64. The compiler PackToSingleExecutable.exe. Not a zip file instead my projects name in the x64 directory with a .exe extension and .dat files an such. I run the PackToSingleExecutable.exe from the main root folder where export placed it. It has an error - cannot locate requested files. Basically, unable to compile the exported files from the directory - itself created. I even tried the construct tutorial step by step. No good. I have to be missing something? Has anyone else come across this situation? Thank you.

This is what the error reads. Windows Bitdefender Smartscreen shutoff.

  • Does this still happen if you export a new empty project, or a simple template like Spell Caster? If so, could you share the exported zip file so we can try it ourselves?

  • Thank you for your reply. It seems that something is wrong in my project? What? don'T know. but attached is a step by step result of using the webview2 export feature for single file project execution. Worked flawless. So; see below. A project.

As you see the webview2 compile to single file executable worked. Time to re examine my game project. Wow. I thank you for your insight and help. Never thought of trying this on a much simpler and lesser project.

  • Try Construct 3

  • The PackToSingleExecutable.exe tool also updates the executable icons and version information (doing the same job as WindowsIconUpdater.exe with other exports). It's possible it has a bug when trying to do that with certain unusual configurations - maybe check what kind of icons your project has or if there's anything unusual in the metadata (project name, author, description etc.)

If you can reproduce the issue with a new empty project, please file an issue and hopefully we can fix it quickly.

One more thing to check: perhaps try temporarily disabling any antivirus you have installed when running PackToSingleExecutable.exe - it's possible an antivirus tool thinks updating an executable is suspicious and so blocks it, causing the tool to fail to complete.
