  • this was the only reason I made a dark theme for myself and later I uploaded it for public too.

Note: If you use JavaScript then don't use my theme, I didn't worked on scripting part.

Thanks, buddy, for your theme and for updating it to the latest version. So far, it's the only dark theme that looks good on my Linux system.

  • Hey Ashley I know you're team is busy with he current beta and 3D feature set, but can we get some clarity on this long standing request and issue? Alongside any information we can get on any ongoing/upcoming UI/UX editor ergonomic improvements?

  • that white selection was the reason I made my own dark theme.

  • Well I'll keep my fingers crossed will get Ashley or Tom to respond to this.

  • All that needs adjusting is to make the selection color a bit darker, so it's a shade of gray.

  • This has been up for what, 3 years? Since the old suggestion platform?

It clearly doesn't affect anyone's code to say "well we can't update this, it will break games."

Obviously it's easier to delegate to the community in the form of Themes, cause new features must be added constantly to the theme etc.

  • Can we please get a developer response for this long-standing issue? I think we can all accept it may not be as easy as we think, but some clarity on the UI/UX for Construct 3 going forward would be greatly appreciated.

  • Slavy it is as easy as we think, it's just CSS stuff that we can make ourselves but then also maintain ourselves. Makes little sense to me as long as we got a 99% perfect dark theme.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Well, fingers crossed we get it. I just want some developer expansion on their general UI/UX planning. It’s the main thing I never hear them address, and it's essential for developers working in the software every day. The Dark Theme Highlighting is so bare minimum for them to fix. s:

  • Slavy you and I both. Features (3D, flowchart, etc) are good but the editor still looks worse than Godot 3.0, while having less features. GG.

  • I have already made that theme. you can try that. most downloaded and highest rated FREE theme.

  • luckyrawatlucky your theme looks ok, but it changes everything.

This thread is about people that want 1 thing in the default theme to be fixed.

  • luckyrawatlucky I downloaded it a while ago, managed to revert a lot of changes (everything being rounded to me is way too much) but I gave up after spending like 4h cause I was just wasting way too much time.

Thanks for sharing it though but like alastair said, it changes everything.

I could make my own theme, but then I'd have to keep it updated, and I don't have time to spend on something that should be available by default.

Exactly right, I just don't understand why Ashley or Tom never speak on the UI/UX stuff? They avoid these threads and answer others, I think this is such a reasonable question for them.

I think more people see other engines focusing on developer workflows and UI/UX ergonomics; it's not something Construct 3 would want to get left behind on. I know GDevelop has a designer bringing in changes, with community designers also helping. Construct 3 just needs to bring on a professional designer for their team.

  • Slavy because Ashley works in C3 on default skin, that's why. Whenever he posts an update on YouTube it's the default skin.

Also very few people complain about the dark theme. If it's a bug like Federico reported, it might get fixed. But white selection in a dark theme seems to be the norm as long as Scirra is concerned.
