r138beta - project never loads

  • Guys, I'm trying the beta r138 and unfortunately my game does not load, only a black screen.

    Other projects load normally though.

I've tried with multiple versions of my game including some of 4 months back and none of the versions is loading.

I run the debugger and it shows "Loading: 100%" but there is only a black screen.

Also, when I click the "Watch" and "Profile" tabs of the debugger I get a popup saying that these are not available in the free edition and asks me to purchase a plan to take advantage of them - but I'm signed in with my account that does have a plan.

I've tried with Firefox and Chrome.

What in my game could be causing this?

    Thanks in advance!!

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Groups are bugged in R138. If you have groups on your event sheet, the game won't run.

    Yes! Me too....=(

And this is not the only problem.

It does not open in the old version!

+ all this scripts have stopped working. I can not go to the button to the new layout.

  • Thanks birdboy

WRS we have a fix tomorrow, lets live our lives while we wait to live them better.

    Looks like i.imgur.com/jrMwlkO.gifv ^^

  • I'm glad I'm not the only one with this problem. I actually wanted to work on my projects today. But I hope this is all recoverable.

It seems as though as some objects that do not appear in the layout will have the layout load but once they are on screen your layout will just be black.

For anyone that wants to revert back to the previous version of r137 in the mean time: construct.net/en/make-games/releases/beta/r137 - Your projects should work in this version. They work for me.

It is useless to return to the r137 version, since if you save the project in r138, the program will display a message that the project is saved in a newer version and cannot be opened in an older one.

True, any way to fix that?

In Construct 2 you can edit the proj file and revert it back I believe, I'm not sure how to do it with Construct 3.

I might be just lucky not to save my project with r138!

  • I don't know about the other cloud storage services, but Google Drive has a version control and if you save your project there - just load a version in which you saved with r137 and your problems are gone. Unless you did many changes in the version that you saved with r138 (I don't know why you would do this since it's not working) you will be fine. If you did, best just wait the fix.
