[PC, iOS, Android] Star Nomad - Greenlit

  • I had problems with samsung as well with my game, but i find out that the fault was in web storage and in how many cookies i use when saving game, in the end i made my save game with array and web storage combination, and converted with minify script option, so in the end i dont have problems with samsung galaxy 2, samsung galaxy 3 and samsung galaxy 4

    I hope this will help

and if you want more info just contact me

Hi, thanks for the tip. I only use WebStorage Local Storage to save Global Variables. I don't use save/load state.

  • Try Construct 3

  • Yes that what I meant, I strongly advice you to first transfer all global variables to one array then save that array on web storage as local value , in this way you have only one call for web storage at start of your game and its improves loading time, and opens game for more devices.

  • , great review from indiegamemag!!

Reinstalled, but still same result: the never ending luidi splash, and the the app crashes.

I find android to be pretty pathetic at times, when I get time I will give the pc version a spin....

Thanks. It looks like a CJS bug overall on some Android devices.. understandably its very difficult to keep things smooth when Android is so crazy with way too many devices and modified OS. Anyway, hopefully we get working IAPs with Crosswalk/XDK very soon. At this point I'm fed up with CJS and very eager to jump ship!

The IGM review was a great read, really good writer. I am working on the major flaw of Star Nomad, the character animations now. Got an artist commissioned to take my anime characters and make them realistic looking, so far its looking AMAZING.

  • Amazing what a real artist can do. Wish I had that artistic talent. <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy">

Also, on sale on Desura! http://www.desura.com/games/star-nomad-rpg-rts-sandbox

Also launched an enhanced Elite version using Xwalk & Intel XDK (Amazing job guys!)

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... lite&hl=en

It's essentially running the PC version with high resolution textures and WebGL effects & particles... on mobiles, and runs it very well! <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy">

iOS version is stuck in Apple's review loop... its nearly 1 month since I submitted and nada...

  • iOS version is stuck in Apple's review loop... its nearly 1 month since I submitted and nada...

That's definitely not normal. Longest I've had to wait is 7 days. Maybe you should contact Apple? Is the status of your app "Waiting for review"?

I've contacted them, they said its still under review, not waiting for review.

I hope they aren't trying to play it to the end to find bugs or whatever, cos it would take a long time. lol

  • Looks like they played through the entire game... finally today they accepted it and its LIVE on the iOS App Store!

    https://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZS ... 41751&mt=8

    For iPads only.

Also, now that its on iOS, Android, PC & MAC, it reaffirms my decision to go with C2 & HTML5.

Especially now with the awesome Intel XDK for Android, and Ejecta for iOS (it refused to work for me <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_mad.gif" alt=":x" title="Mad"> ) and soon Phonegap with iOS8.

Updated recently to add lots of new content, including a proper space mining feature: blast asteroids with a laser and collect fragments, including rare ores!

Now Star Nomad is finally a full fledged spacesim! Dynamic trade, random missions, cargo runs, dynamic faction standing, pirating, smuggling (stealth element to avoid police scanning your cargo!), and a very responsive NPC comms chatter system to bring space to life.

Also, for the next few days, Star Nomad is a featured game on IndieGameStand: https://indiegamestand.com/deal/

Keep on trying, pushing it, hopefully pass Greenlight!

  • Just a few updates,

    A face-lift or as they say "lipstick on a pig"... <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_wink.gif" alt=";)" title="Wink">

Also released the full PC/MAC HD version on iOS using the new iOS8+ WKWebView (unbelievably fast):

And today, something very unexpected happened!

Lots of paper work for Steam... I thought Apple was bad. O_o

Work on Star Nomad 2 is going full steam ahead and this time around, its designed for PC/MAC first and foremost, so there's no limits on creativity, presentation or gameplay.

  • Congratulations on getting greenlit we'll deserved

    Looking forward to the sequel

  • Congrats dude, this is awsome

I remember when I argued about the manga-chars in the beginning of your development, now with this more realistic ones it feels way better for me

Will get a copy from Scirra Store soon!

PS: I would like to know how good your game is selling on the Scirra Store, as it´s the first real one without it´s source included

  • DARTH Crusher Thanks! I'm inspired by other excellent show-case games being made with C2, so definitely with SN2 I am aiming high.

    Beaverlicious

    You were right! Thanks!

The ship design is horrible looking back, but somehow, it ended up with its own unique style that got compliments from a lot of players (a pleasant surprise!), it looks retro, but isn't, looks modern but isn't.

I took it off the Scirra Store because I want Desura to be the central point, since if I need to distribute Steam keys to owners as promised, it can only be done via Desura. Itch.io is also another good site, but Desura seems to be the main non-steam distribution indie platform. Too many places is hard to keep up due to constant updates.

I'm thinking of doing a short version (comments & DOC file explaining optimizations) with source as a learning tool on Scirra Store, but not sure if there's much demand for it.
