• Thanks GenkiGenga, I appreciate your comment.

If you need any help, even if I'm not an expert, I would love to help you.

Considering the problem you encountered, it should be fixed. I added a small condition that will always check with the nearest zombie to the player. I've been doing a lot of small changes lately and the game is getting better ;).

  • Thanks ramones for your feedback,

Guess what, your wishes will be executed. I've already added an option to mute the music. I'm currently trying to figure out a way of making the text more clear. Maybe different colors for words.

For the typing speed, I thought of that but, for me it was not very important for the game (the truth is: I don't know how to calculate the typing speed haa haa!). I could add that as an information when the player dies. I'll check on the Internet how to calculate that.

Anyway, your suggestions will be on the game tomorrow night at best ;). So, Stay tuned.

  • For the typing speed perhaps you could do for every "successful word" add 1 to a global variable and a "seconds spent during round" Global variable and have the text field set text to:

"successful words" divided by (seconds divided by 60(for minutes))

    for Words per minute?

If the player fails before a minute has passed it doesn't work though.

I'm quite hungry and very tired at the moment so not sure that's even the correct way to do it, but eh.. I like to ramble. Probably an easier way to do it.

  • Great start! This is a fun addition to the typing genre.

Like some others, I've had trouble reading the letters, as they're too small and blocky on my screen. Also, it's frustrating when a large word starts creeping in from the left-hand side of the screen, and you can't start typing until the whole word (i.e., the first letter) is visible.

  • Its coming along great, liking the subtle changes.

I would defintaly be open to doing a little project with you in the future. You really need to get yourself a license! In fact, I'll pledge 20 dollars towards it if it would make things easier for you.

    Consider it an investment :)

Edit: The zombie got through when I attempted to type definitely. (Twice)

  • Game plays fine in my browser, but it is a Chrome with a big screen (1600x900).

As for same first-letter words, could you select the word in the FASTER zombie, instead of selecting thw word in the FIRST zombie?

  • Just few updates to see where the game is going now

I'm still adding few new stuff according to what I receive as feedback. I have to say that it is very helpful. Thanks a lot guys. I'm putting a lot of time in this game because as I said before, it will be my last game of this year.

  • MWB,

So, I test the game with my friend's mac computer and as I expected, the font I used in the game is not installed on his computer . Therefore, he has the same problem than you because, the game will automatically replace the font I used by one default one.

If you use a window computer, you should have that police installed I think. anyway, it's not a big deal. I increase the width of all the text in the game. Could you let me know if you have that problem again? Thanks.

  • jchamplain,

I'm glad you liked it. LOL, if you want to play with your elbows do it man. .

But you might destroy your keyboard, just saying...Where did you get a shotgun?????? LOL.

  • EmperorIng360,

Thanks for your comment dude. You will be surprised, I have never played Typing of the Dead. So, without checking on the internet, I think the game was on the Sega Dreamcast? Believe me, where I come from, the Dreamcast was only for very very very rich people when it came out . just memories. It's funny because, nowadays, I'm sure I can buy one at 60 bucks or less.

For your issue, it should be fixed now. It was caused because the font I used in the game is not installed on your computer. Therefore, the Word "Back" in the tutorial screen is present but it's not visible because its width is too small. Let me know if you can see the word now.

  • MWB,

For the typing word speed, I did what you suggested. I just count the number of words time and I divided by the time spent by the player. I'm sure it's not very accurate but at least it's something.

  • RandomExile,

Thanks for your feedback. I totally understand what you mean. I'm currently trying to find a way of doing that right. Actually, it's only a matter of "Where the Zombie is spawned". I increased the size of the layout so you shouldn't have that problem with the right side of the game.

  • The new font works perfectly and the backgrounds make a HUGE difference. Had a couple of issues of trying to type a word and it started typing on a zombie that was still off-screen and I had to wait for him to enter the playing field before I could read the word and finish it.

Got to level 17 and it stopped accepting any typing and they got me.. so not sure exactly what happened, may have been my fault somewhere.

Words per second is generally not too useful as the standard measurement for typing speed is either WPM (words per minute) or Characters per minute. The words per second will always be a very low (below 1) value no matter how fast you are. But nicely integrated none the less ;]

  • I found it more legible, and didn't have any problems with left-hand spawning. Great job!

  • GenkiGenga,

LOL. Thanks a lot for your offer. It's soo nice!! But really don't bother yourself. I will buy a license one day. I just need to save some money. I have to say that it's been fine with the Free Edition ^^. I can do mostly what I want.
