How do I decrease health slowly?

Hi,

I have a scene where the player enters water and I want his health to decrease slowly and I am not sure how to go about it.

I am trying 'water is overlapping player subtract 1 health' but the play is dying almost instantly (you only have 4 health)

Any idea how to get it to decrease slower?
