Casino? money? who knows? but the target is the same!
  • I haven't. I don't plan to anytime soon. I'm going to let c3 become more stable before even considering it. Also it doesn't offer me anything I would use over existing features of c2.

I'm planning to try Fusion 3, since that will probably be available before c3's new runtime, and I'll be interested to see how it compares. I tried the new gamemaker, but did not enjoy the workflow. I tried godot, but did not like it either. So i'm eyeing Fusion3 for now.

  • For those who don't like subscriptions, but demand console export:

Wow. I expected a high price tag for GMS, but nothing like that, and it's only for 12 months.

Wow. I expected a high price tag for GMS, but nothing like that, and it's only for 12 months.

I just read a dev response at their forums and apparently the sudden price hike is because in the past Sony and Microsoft "subsidised" the console export development and support of GMS (including support for getting all those certifications and other occult rituals the console companies demand before you can ship). Now they need to pay it out of their own pockets so the cost was offset to GMS users, so they introduced the subscription model for those platforms.

Makes me wonder if Unity can afford lower subscriptions due to economics of scale.

Also I googled a bit about TRCs for console development and to my shock console development is even more of a pain than I thought.

  • Pulstar Thanks for clearing that out.

  • Not yet. I'm a hobbiest and a yearly subscription is a bit to much money for me. But I like the cloud building service. So maybe if I get more into gamebuilding, I will switch!

  • Mmmm nop... I am just waiting for the stand alone / one time payment Construct 4 .

  • I like C2, events and editor, it is easy to work with them but when I finish my current project, then I will change engine.

  • I subscribed because of the 50% off price (definitely not worth full price imho) and because i'm on mac so it's nice to not have to use a vm. I'm kind of regretting it at the moment since it feels like i'm paying to beta test and the lack of C2 plugins. I'm getting quite fed up with construct and scirra as a whole now, it seems to have sucked all the fun out of making games somehow, so will probably move onto Fusion 3 when it arrives.

  • No because people still seem to have problems with mobile related games.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • I have, because I like all the small changes it has made, the new editor feels much nicer to use too. It did kind of seem like the early C1/C2 days again with the bugs and such, but they're making rapid fixes so it's pretty good. I am keen to see the new engine remake thingo they were planning on too, that'd be good but unfortunately so far away! The fact it's in the browser doesn't bother me since I run it as an desktop app anyway, so it feels like native.

And also because I want to support Scirra, since I've waited a decade for Clickteam to make MMF3 but Scirra has put out 3 editors in that time, all with subevents! Clickteam never bothered to evolve their program because they wasted a decade on trying to make exporters that were barely featured. Though they are thankfully they're starting to make progress again though up, slowly. But Scirra has proven themselves to be much better developers in every way, they've always listened and responded to their community!

  • How much is the C2 discount? Is it just 1 year?

  • Not yet but I think I will in the near future

  • How much is the C2 discount? Is it just 1 year?

Yes, it's for one year. But if you decide to wait a year or more before buying C3, you'll still be eligible for that discount.

  • These are my Opinions:

Have I switched from C2 to C3 the Answer is NO. I think having a subscription base for a single individual is a bad idea.

The individual game developers who are paying for content expense has enough to worry about, like Sprites, Backgrounds, and Tile sets ect.

Solutions I think would have been much suited options for Construct 3.

    1) Having one time fee for a individual licensed software.

    2) Charging a 5% fee if money is made off a published game.

    3) Businesses & organizations based on sizes charge subscriptions.

    4) Educators, students and institutes who are qualified should be free for innovative purposes only.

  • No, I've taken a decision to do not switch C3 in following reasons:

-Internet required to open Google Drive and other cloud files.

Yes, if you want to use an online file storage you need to be online. Alternatively, you can use local file save/load.

Scirra promised to update C2 as new version but it will not happen.

We've been releasing Construct 2 updates. Last one was only a few days ago.
