  • Problem Description

I've noticed that on iPad Pro's Safari, when I turned my games into landscape, the screen did not scale properly (only small part of the screen) and it does scale normally on other tablets, phones and PCs.

Also I was able to see objects which was outside of the layout. Which never happened anywhere else.

    Attach a Capx

It applies to all my different games. All my games are letterbox scaled.

You can still download the Capx of one of my games to check it out here: https://www.scirra.com/arcade/adventure ... ecret-1922

    Steps to Reproduce Bug

    • Open web game made with C2 using iPad Pro's Safari
    • Turn it into Landscape orientation

    Observed Result

The screen did not scale properly (only small part of the screen) and I was also able to see objects outside of layout

    Expected Result

The game's window scales properly and fully throughout the Pro's screen

    Affected Browsers

    • Chrome: (Unknown. Would be great to test if someone has the opportunity)
    • Safari: (YES)

    Operating System and Service Pack

    Windows 10

    Construct 2 Version ID

When tested the iPad Pro, the version was r16 or +

  • I was *just* getting ready to report the same problem. It's sort of an unfortunate bug because I'm making concept and feature prototypes for the people in my company -- and most of us just got iPad Pro's as company gifts. So while I'd like to think, "Oh, what are the odds that someone looking at my app will be on an iPad Pro?" Probably pretty good.

  • Heh

And since You got the opportunity to try out how it's on Chrome... Would be great to know! Or is it the same?

  • I just downloaded Chrome and checked it out. Looks exactly the same: my app is in the upper left quarter of the screen, and some of my "off-screen" sprites are visible below.

Probably an issue with iPad Pro's higher resolution?

  • Maybe Ashley will give You some quick fix as your situation is quite important .You can also try to play with different scaling methods.

But let's hope this will be fixed quite soon either by Apple or by Scirra

  • Can you provide a minimal .capx as per the bug report requirements? We do not usually accept complete games, as they make debugging the project far more difficult.

  • Hello Ashley,

You just need an Ipad Pro and the ability to turn it to the landscape mode with any web exported C2 game

  • Can you provide a .capx that definitely reproduces it anyway? As per the bug report guidelines, it's very common that it doesn't reproduce when we follow people's instructions.

  • Strange, I just tried to post in this thread but my message didn't appear. Apologies if I accidentally double post.

Ignaci, I noticed that your example file is using the older version of Construct 2. (I can't even open it.) You may want to update your link. Or I can post an example file if that would be easier. Let me know!

  • I've updated it.

    You can upload yours anyway

  • Ashley,

When I test my game on iPad, it always starts in Portrait mode, even though I have set the screen orientation to "Landscape" in both C2 and Intel XDK Build setting.

I also tried calling the Browser->Lock Landscape action. Strangely, one started and when I press Home button on iPad and go back to the game, its locked in Landscape forever!! But always starts in Portrait mode.

I know this is totally different from the above bug, but you might be able to tell if its related. I am scared my app review will fail

  • I am having this exact same issue with our ipad pro in the office. Fullscreen layout set to Scale outer which works fine on an ipad air but is only in a box on the left hand side of the screen on an ipad pro in safari. Unbounded scrolling is set to 0 along with parallax and it centers and scales on Desktop fine but ipad pro is a no no. I wonder if it is because of the pixel density of the ipad pro or something along those lines?

    Any ideas on this guys.

  • Looking forward to know the cause. Intriguing

  • This also happens with Android mobiles
