• Thanks !

Ha, I've never thought of it being like Moon Patrol before. Maybe when I start writing the music I should write a track that sounds like the music in Moon Patrol. That soundtrack still gets in my head after all these years.

As for more levels, I'm going to try to have the game all in one layout. So the game won't feature levels per se, but there will be unique areas to a larger unified game world. For now it'll be a small playable area until I get all the mechanics in. That way I can design the map based on the features I implement, instead of having to redesign an area because I cut a feature that wasn't working.

360° aiming was something I had thought about implementing but ultimately decided against it. I had a really good reason for not going that route, I just can't think of it at the moment.

  • Maybe it's just me

When I saw it that's the first thing that popped in my mind, I thought it was just a piece of the background, I got even more excited when I found out I can use it and naturally I started looking for mines and gaps to jump over

  • So, I've been thinking for a while now that I need to redo the main character a bit. It seems to be that there's an abundance of metroidvanias that have a female lead, so I decided to start making the character more gender neutral in that it could be a boy or a girl. You aren't told in game and it won't be important to the story, nor will there be a surprise ending where it will reveal the gender. I would literally be up to the player to decide.

There's still some tweaking to do, but the new character will be the one on the left in comparison to the old character on the right.

The new animations will be done from scratch which I'm hoping will give it a much better feel while moving around on foot.

  • ryanrybot That's a neat idea! I just played this interactive novel game for ios called "Lifeline" where the main character's gender is never revealed and their name is "Tyler" which is pretty gender-neutral. It was great reading reviews where people had assumed different genders for the character.

  • Looking good!

  • It's been a busy summer, but I managed to get some more stuff done; not much compared to how many months it's been, but I have a new build up at least.

As always, let me know what you think.

  • I last updated on August 27th!? Oh boy...

Well, here's another update. Some new weapons and a new weapon select menu!

Before you just used whatever weapon you last picked up, but I thought that making each weapon different enough to warrant switching them would be a good idea. So this is my attempt at making them different.

There's also a bunch of "new" stuff which is broken at the moment. Teleportation to get back to your vehicle if you get stuck, new enemies, save areas and all that.

It's coming along slowly, even though it's been months since it looks like I did anything.

  • The animation is really smooth, graphics are great.

    Some suggestions:

-Slow down the tower rotation from left to right, it looks really quick.

-You should had a little recoil when the gun shoots. (this could be a trick when you shoot down while jumping)

-The smokes when you fall to the ground is nice, maybe add a quick screenshake to give a sensation of heaviness to the vehicle.

I don't know if it's a test but there is rain falling inside at the entrance of the cave.

You work on this game since more than a year, I hope you will finish it one day.

  • Thanks Pandadoor! I appreciate it a lot.

Those are really good suggestions and I will be implementing some of them when I finish with the broad mechanics and concentrate on the polish.

It's been about a year and a half that this project has been going. I will finish one day, but it will be a while yet. This is more of a fun project, rather than a means to make money, so I'm not really in any rush.

  • I've got bored tonight and made some kind of streaming waterfall...

  • Hi Everyone!

Just wanted to let everyone know that development has slowed down since March, but I am still fully committed to completing the game.

This summer has been quite busy for me personally, so unfortunately the game has to be on hold for several months. I will be back on it in August and hope to have more stuff to show by September.

  • Don't abandon, project looks awesome!

  • Thanks ! It's certainly not abandoned, just just on hold for a little bit.

  • The game is amazing, if need beta tester, you can count on me.

I really liked the level design and progression of upgrades.

    Congratulations.

  • Looks nice and has good potential. Although, I would have liked having the controls on the HUD for demo play.
