  • You can also add effects to the whole layout - it will affect all layers.

  • I am not sure what do you mean by exercises. The best way to learn Construct in my opinion is to start making your own game. You'll figure many things yourself once you start developing your game. If you have any questions search the forum and tutorials, read the documentation, and if nothing else helps - ask here and someone will help you.

  • Creating an inventory is not an easy task, it may be a bit too advanced for a beginner. Especially if you want multiple npcs in the game to have their own inventories.

One way to do it is to add an Inventory array (or dictionary). When any npc is created, also create a new instance of this array and link it to the npc using UID or some custom npc ID.

There are lots of other things you need to consider when designing an inventory - how it will be displayed, how items will be added, stacking/non-stacking items, limiting stack size, combining/splitting stacks, using/dropping items etc.

I would suggest to start by reading tutorials, there are quite a few:

  • Thanks!

None of them mention "PS" or "Playstation". I guess I'll have to find another way to detect PS gamepad - ask player to press a specific button or something..

  • Thank you for creating this wholesome post!

I too would like to wish Merry Christmas to Scirra team and to this whole wonderful community!

  • Disable behavior by default, then on button pressed - enable the behavior.

  • oosyrag Thanks, here is the link:

If possible, could you please ask your friend to test on Android? I believe gamepadID may return different values on different platforms. But an ID from a PC will also be very helpful.

  • It may be a different version (same name, but a different ID).

Or the runtime may be incompatible. For example, the addon only supports runtime 2, but the project you are trying to open uses runtime 3.

  • Try Construct 3

  • Right-click on Files and create a new dictionary file.

    Set size, for example 20.

Then you can simply paste keys and values the same way you do in Excel or similar software. You can paste individual cells or the whole column.

    .

To load this file into a dictionary use AJAX plugin.

    .

  • You can create a family with this block object and use an event like this:

    For each Block
System pick BlockFamily overlapping point (Block.imagePointX(1), Block.imagePointY(1))
     Block set aboveUID to BlockFamily.UID

However, this seems to be a very complicated and inefficient system.

If you are making a grid of blocks, consider using a TileMap. Or, if you need to do it with sprites, use a pair of variables GridX, GridY. This way you can easily pick a neighboring block on any side, or even on a diagonal. For example, to pick a block on the right: GridX=(CurrentBlock.GridX+1), GridY=(CurrentBlock.GridY)
