  • Tom: Another issue I now notice is that I'm logged in the forums/on the website, but not in the arcade.

As usual, my browser of choice is FireFox and apparently, 12 days ago it was working, but today I tried to answer a comment posted on one of my games and the button login does take me to the main scirra.com page (where I'm logged in), but when going back to the arcade from there, I'm still considered/displayed as not logged in.

    Strange.

  • Yes, NeoBiel, I'm starting to really get tired of moving every threads you make.

Before posting, please read the hierarchy of the forums, and read the website to see if you can't already find the informations you're looking for.

Spamming won't bring you nothing but bad reputation. Consider yourself warned.

  • ramones: Good call.

Indeed, enabling cookies made everything work as intended. Thanks for the notice.

  • Problem Description

On mobile in preview mode in FireFox 28.0.1 with a webstorage plugin a dialog rise to mention an issue of having the webstorage plugin performing an "insecure" operation.

Then another dialog displays referring to preview_prelude.js performing an insecure operation as well.

In export, most of the screen is black (in the example the button still displays on top, but apparently the execution is halted) and no dialog is displayed.

    Attach a Capx

    Capx : https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/36472942/construct/bugs/r167.2_webstorage_ff.capx

    Export : https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/36472942/construct/game/webstoTest/index.html

    Description of Capx

The capx is simple, it's just testing out whether there is a local key existing or not and displaying some text accordingly.

Also, if you press a button it sets a key in the webstorage.

    Steps to Reproduce Bug

    • Preview (over LAN) the capx in Firefox for mobile (android)
    • Execute the exported project in the same browser.

    Observed Result

As mentioned, in preview two dialogs mention issues about insecure operation and the screen mostly stays black, displaying an issue in the execution of the project.

In export, no dialogs, but the same black screen.

    Expected Result

The screen to go white and display text accordingly to whether the webstorage key exists or not and no dialogs to display.

    Affected Browsers

(on mobile, Android, tested on a Nexus 7)
    • Chrome: NO
    • FireFox: YES

    Operating System and Service Pack

    Android 4.4.2

  • First time every newest C2 Users will read the Tutorial Topic other than forum.

and they not find what they want on Tutorial Topic.

Firs time users look in the tutorials I doubt anyway they will go look for a "all user capx forum random" anyway.

Also, you just threw random CAPXs all-together, without any kind of explanation whatsoever.

A new user would just arrive on your "tutorial", see a list of capx without explanations, wonder if he's supposed to download each capx one by one and try them out to understand them.

Some might do, most of them will call it ******** and move on to another tutorial, or maybe even go post in the forums for something that's already answered out there.

Once again, it's indeed a good idea to post those capx example as they are useful. Nevertheless, I believe each of them author should do it, in its own dedicated tutorial/capx example, with a proper title, proper tags for research and a quick explanation of what to expect from the capx.

This way, it is useful for whomever does search in the tutorials section.

A catch-all tutorial is just not that useful at all in the end. And I don't think it's really worth resources for new comers at all since they can already find those examples on their own when searching through the forum for specific topic/keywords.

Edit: I've just also noticed that this very topic was randomly placed. Moved it to a more appropriate forum.

  • I've removed this "tutorial" I'm not sure what the purpose of this really is.

If people want to post their own capx examples, they can do so with explanations and titles in relation to the content of their capx.

I don't think having a random "tutorial" gathering random capxs really helps.

How do I Make A countdown timer? I want to have a clock that counts down form 24 hours by the second. So something like this: 24.00.00 => 23.59.59 => 23.59.58 and so on. How to do this?

    See the attached example.

Bl4ckSh33p: It looks actually like a completely different subject, you should start your own topic on the issue, or maybe even seek help in the plugin's topic, in case.

  • I'm not sure if I understand exactly what you are asking.

    "Painting levels" ?

The references you give are Braid and Aquaria, which, to my knowledge, use simply sprites of "organic" shape.

So I guess, you could make instances of sprites in C2 holding down the ctrl key and drag-dropping the sprite to make a new instance and change the starting frame of an animation of speed 0.

If this doesn't help, please try to detail a bit more exactly what you are looking for.

As far as I can tell, in Braid you don't design levels as you play, so your mention of "select an object and click and drag to produce a series of objects in the line you drag your mouse" seems to refer to something I'm not aware of.

  • Automatic logging works for me as well, haven't had to click the "Login" button in two days. Thanks Tom.

megatronx: You might want to login, logout, clear your cookies and login again. This might help.

  • True.

Also NeoBiel, instead of making a thread in a non-related part of the forums, you could have posted a comment directly in the release's page.

It's nice from you to say thanks to Scirra. It is indeed deserved, nevertheless be careful about where you post and if you're not adding noise to the forums.

    It helps everyone.
