  • At edittime: this is already supported

At runtime: why not just add a condition to the event detecting input? E.g. if you have 'On object clicked', add a 'Object is on layer X' and 'Is global variable LayerXEnabled = 1'.

  • According to this post which has been updated: http://fremycompany.com/BG/2013/Internet-Explorer-11-rsquo-s-leaked-build-395/ - they've now figured out how to enable WebGL, and verified that it actually works in IE11! I think this is a strong sign WebGL could actually really ship in IE11, let's hope they don't change their mind and back out of it...

  • 18*1.2 is get me 21.6

Construct 2 is smart enough to calculate constant expressions at export-time with high precision. In other words, if you type 18 * 1.2 in an expression, the game doesn't actually do a multiplication. I guess the editor does this at a higher precision than the runtime which is why it gives the correct answer.

    tr((18*(10*anyval))/10) this give me 21.6

By multiplying by 10, you go from 1.2 (which requires an infinite number of binary digits) to 12 (which is an integer and can be represented in a finite number of binary digits). So you get a different answer. This is all exactly the same cause as I explained earlier, and will be reproducible in any programming language, framework, engine or computer system whatsoever, unless they deliberately use enhanced precision calculations (such as in financial software).

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • Are you using the latest version of the CocoonJS launcher? Screencanvas should work, but only in the latest versions.

  • Computers work in binary. In binary, lots of numbers are actually recurring fractions (like 0.3333...) when they can be written as a short number in decimal. I checked and 1.2 is one of these numbers that recurs infinitely in binary, and therefore gets truncated.

  • Closing. Congratulations, you have learned that computers do not operate at infinite precision; they will have rounding errors. This will happen with any programming language, framework or toolkit you ever use, because the rounding errors happen all the way down at the CPU level.

For example, calculate (1/3) * 3 to 6 decimal places of precision: you get 0.999999, not 1. That's basically what happens in computer memory, since it can't store an infinite sequence of digits!

    Workaround: only ever compare if a number is within a small range, e.g. abs(a - b) < 0.001.

  • You could probably do it using the plugin SDK. We can't really have a built-in feature for that, because it depends on your server.

  • IIRC Space Blaster uses a small invisible moving sprite with the Scroll To behavior.

  • Families already implement inheritance. If you want multiple inheritance, you can add one object to multiple families. That should be equivalent to having families in families, so there's no need to implement that.

  • If they aren't placed in the layout, then the object is not pre-loaded when the layout starts. This means if you create an object not placed on the layout, Construct 2 will load its images at the moment you create it. This can cause a noticeable pause, especially on mobile. So if you intend to use an object on a layout, it should be placed on that layout, even if it is destroyed immediately on startup.

  • It's most likely all your events are working properly. Perhaps you depend on some specific browser feature that isn't supported everywhere. You must test across browsers from the very start, because it's now very difficult to track down the cause of the issue or offer any help to you. If you were testing properly from the start, you'd probably know roughly which change caused the issues.
