Notes

It's a new stable release of Construct! If you're updating from the last stable release r358, then this update includes changes from r359, r360, r361, r362, r363, r364, r365, r366 and r367. Highlights include:

⭐ New Steamworks, Epic Games and File plugins for the Windows WebView2 export option

⭐ A new C++ extension system for Windows WebView2 (documented here)

TypeScript support with comprehensive official type definitions for all Construct APIs! See Using TypeScript in Construct

⭐ A new CSV plugin making it easy to read data in comma-seperated values (CSV) or tab-separated values (TSV) format

⭐ Text editor support for .csv, .tsv, .md and .ini files

Improvements for folder-based projects, including reloading the full project file/folder structure from disk

⭐ A new Alpha ramp effect, a fixed Alpha clamp effect (and renamed the legacy broken 'Alpha clamp' effect to 'Alpha cutoff')

⭐ Developer mode now reloads addons on preview to make third-party addon development easier

13 new example projects ranging from Ghost Shooter TypeScript to Visual Novel

⭐ Lots more, including bug fixes, usability improvements, improved WebGPU support, and more! See all the intervening beta release notes for full details.

Also note that Ogg Theora support has been removed from the Video plugin, as it is a very old and little-used format which browsers are now removing support for. Projects not using Ogg Theora should not be affected.

We'll be starting a new beta release cycle soon. If you'd like to help test it, try the beta release opt-in: choose Notify me about updates for beta releases in Settings. Stay tuned for more updates!

  • That was an amazing release cycle, thank you !

Now crossing my fingers for a Hierarchy View for Christmas 🤞🎄

  • I hope there will be improvements about multiplayer and custom servers soon.

  • Ashley, this Stable release broke many of my projects.

    - Scripts purpose reset.

    - Icon purposes reset.

    - AJAX request action removed.

    - Files renamed to lowercase causing issues.

    - And object conflicts that was caused by the engine automatically changing files and references.

All of these corruption I can see from GitHub changes. I am one of the lucky ones who use GitHub with project folder, and managed to easily revert changes.

At this point, I'd recommend using GitHub as source control to avoid issues like this in the future and easily revert changes or corruption made automatically by the engine, or even manually yourself.

This has been a painful update, and from a stable version of all releases.

  • This build crashes my game every time I try to open it, I might switch to another engine

    • Go through the betas one by one and see where your game gan be opened.

It's easy to load earlier versions and just change the build number:

      example: editor.construct.net/r367

see what changes are made in the earliest version that crashes your game and you should be able to adjust the game to work with new features.

  • I get major crashes with r368 when I export any project to android studio and build for android, whenever Viewport fit is set to "Cover". Writing up a full bug report now.

  • I have the impression that Ajax requests were skipped following the update. Especially with json files containing capital letters.

    • press f12 when running your game.

It seems Ajax requests are not working with the new update :/

I get a bunch of errors when trying to get ajax files, everything was working fine previously.

  • Very nice! Looking forward to future updates :D

  • Hey guys, how you all doing?

Since this release, the preview in the browser crashes.

It starts, but then freezes, fps drops quickly.

The editor in the browser also freezes for a while, but then continues when the preview is ended.

Anyone have any idea what this could be about?

I have never experienced this before, I have been using Construct for years.

--> Solve: Somehow in my Project Settings Fullscreen quality was set to low.

This causes with Debug Layout in Fulscreen a very high "image memory" the preview will freeze or crash.

Release works great now, very happy solve this!

    Keep up the good work!

  • full-screen mode crashes flat out, every time. I've been using construct for years now, and if these features are consistently just adding new ways for the engine to crash, why even update it?

If you run in to a problem please file an issue following all the guidelines, as otherwise it's usually impossible to help.

Please note if you are referring to this issue, then that currently appears to be a problem with Android, not Construct.

  • Very awesome, thank you guys so much for everything you do!
