Design your own garden and see how it impacts the environment.

This early demo is the result of a workshop Serious Games for the municipality of Rotterdam, and it is my first attempt at creating a rough draft for a videogame. The workshop was ran by Davide Di Staso from the Technical University of Delft. The game was designed in cooperation with R. van den Berg.

While this version of the game is not based on any biology or climate studies, it shows in a playful way what impact our own actions can have on the environment and its impact on quality of life.

The scope of the game has been limited by the free version of Construct3 (in fact it uses every single event allowed).

Instructions

Choose one of the tiles in the garden, and then choose which element you would like to place there. Continue until you have designed the entire garden (all 12 tiles).

On the bars to the right you can see the effect of your design on the population of bees, insects and birds, and the effect of heat stress, meaning your garden will be hotter in summer.

If you wish to reset the design, press the reset button on the top left of the screen.
