  • The games are entering the moderation queue, I've approved the update. I guess it's something Tom still needs to look at but just submit it once, don't submit it multiple times, and we can still approve them.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • It's a feature of the Text object. Try this:

    • Add the Text object
    • Add an event 'On start of layout'
    • Add an action in the Text object 'Set web font'

The rest of the tutorial should make sense from there.

  • nobrowser2, I recommend you switch to another tool if you don't like Construct. Whoever's tool you choose, please also do us a favour and post in the same manner to their forum as much as possible too! :)

  • Yeah, the tutorial editor is a bit too keen to save your work so you don't lose it. When you start a new tutorial the old one is still there, but you can just select-all and delete and start writing a new one - the old one won't be affected if you've already submitted it!

If in doubt, save the body text to notepad too (also protects against server hiccups/browser crashes losing your work).

  • Not yet...! What kind of files do you need to add as dependencies? If at all possible you should dynamically load javascript files for example, which means you don't need to add them as a dependency.

  • Nice example. You can also do it by delta-x and delta-y rather than distance/angle, but I guess it works the same.

FWIW I was going to add an official drag+drop behavior at some point which also supports touch.

  • Get rid of the ScrollTo plugin, it's a shortcut for the system 'scroll to object' action. Just use that instead, e.g. if object Y < 1000 then scroll to the object. Then it will never scroll below 1000 pixels.

  • The requests to _reloadpoll_ are just a simple quick yes/no check. It enables the same browser window to be re-used if you hit Preview with the game already running from an old preview.

If you keep spawning sprites and don't destroy any, your game will obviously slow down due to the increasing CPU work (and x100 if they use Physics). I suppose it's more likely that than the reloadpoll that is slowing down your game.

  • I tried the trial and it just wraps it all in an exe that relies on Internet Explorer already installed on the system...

Heh, that makes it totally useless. No IE9 on Windows XP so your games will never run on XP.

Chromeless looks promising though, I forgot to check that one out - will have a look.

  • AlexFili I believe Tom's already added the edit game feature so you should already be able to do this!

  • Because of a little glitch I also had to reject a few games which weren't working immediately after the r74 release. It's fixed now, so if your game was rejected you might want to try re-submitting.
