  • Yeah, this is a quirk which is very difficult to work around, because the Text object does not know its dimensions until the next time it is drawn. It's not drawn until the current run of events finished. 0.1 seconds later (after about 6 ticks) it's been drawn again so it knows its size.

  • The 'Drag & Drop' behavior was added in r78. You're using an old version without it :)

  • Other than that, you should tell us which browsers it works on and which it doesn't, so we can think about what might cause it.

  • The thing most people miss about the "Wait" action is it only pauses the current event, not the entire game! So the rest of your events continue to run while it is waiting.

    So if you have:

    • Wait 1 second
    • Deactivate group "InitPlay"
    • Activate group "Game"

then the group "InitPlay" continues to be activated and its events are running for that 1 second. Perhaps you wanted:

    • Deactivate group "InitPlay"
    • Wait 1 second
    • Activate group "Game"

    or

    • Deactivate group "InitPlay"
    • Activate group "Game"
    • Wait 1 second
  • For-each ordered and better z ordering are already on the todo list!

As for 'create object by name', as part of obfuscating your project on export to make sure nobody can reverse engineer it, Construct 2 renames all your objects to obscure names. If you used 'create object by name' this would have to be disabled because you can use expressions which aren't known until runtime, and your exported project would have to include the original object names. This could make it slightly (but not much) more practical to reverse engineer the project. Do you think it's worth the tradeoff?

  • Well, you can also test the distance between objects with events: distance(a.x, a.y, b.x, b.y) < 100

but I understand that's not very convenient. It's on the todo list, but it gets a bit tricky with things like poly-circle and circle-poly collisions.

  • You shouldn't just turn off your firewall completely, since it can make your computer less secure. The How to preview on a local network tutorial includes steps to allow previewing through the Windows Firewall, but if you have a different firewall the steps will be different. Basically, you need to allow inbound TCP connections on port 50000-50100.

  • The Classic particles object supported this, but rotation can significantly slow down the particle effect, which is more of an issue in a Javascript/HTML5 powered particle effect. I could add it, but the majority of people who don't read up on performance details will probably just enable it and wonder why their framerate dips, so I would prefer not to add it...

  • You should use the 'export to Scirra Arcade' to a new empty folder and zip and upload that. The upload format is different for the Arcade, if you export it normally or export it over an existing normal export, it will include files that are not allowed.

  • Weishaupt - works fine on my iPad 2 running iOS 5 here. What are you running? Also, are you using scale mode or crop mode? You might only get the right value in crop mode.

  • septeven hahahaha :D

  • If Firefox crashes it's *definitely* Firefox's fault - Firefox should never crash no matter what Construct 2 tells it to do, and it's also impossible for us to fix since it's Mozilla's code and not ours. I'm sorry you had trouble but I'm afraid we can't count this as a Construct 2 bug.

  • You should not have spaces around the '=', it should be:

Other than that, you should tell us which browsers it works on and which it doesn't, so we can think about what might cause it.

  • Heh I was going to suggest that too - maybe people miss that the Solid behavior actually adds a 'Set enabled' action you can use to enable or disable it :)

  • You have to set the 'Fullscreen in browser' setting for the display to fill the screen, on both desktop and mobile. If it's off, Safari will display it like an ordinary web page, and it is showing it at 640x960, it's just zoomed out like it does for other web pages. Making it use a fullscreen mode avoids that.
