  • Well, sounds like there's no issue here anyway, so closing.

  • It works fine here in all major browsers.

What do you mean by "srware iron 15.0.900.1"? Do you mean Chrome 15? If so we will close this because we don't support old browsers.

  • Yeah, that looks like it would work fine.

  • Yep, that's been on the todo list a while.

  • Try Construct 3

  • You need to make sure the origins line up in both objects. In one it's in the middle, in the other it's at the bottom. You also need to handle all the animation triggers in the Platform behavior (like On Jump and On Land) for it to look right.

  • Imported images don't have a 1px border added automatically so will display like the left column. I've had it on my todo list to auto-crop imported images so it always displays like the right column.

  • What's wrong with changing the max speed and setting it back after a 'wait' action? What's unpredictable about that?

  • This is discussed fairly regularly in this forum - unfortunately we are a very small team (2 people) and have a todo list with 50+ items on it, so it is very difficult for us to take on new features to work on at the moment. Perhaps in the long term we can consider this.

  • That's odd, so the SwitchCase plugin breaks the audio object? You probably want to report that to the SwitchCase plugin developer.

  • Actually, I found a way to fix it. You need to position and size the sprite in terms of the viewport, rather than the window size. You should get in the habit of always using the viewport expressions (ViewportLeft, ViewportTop, ViewportRight, ViewportBottom) rather than the window size expressions because the window size is kind of irrelevant when the display has been scaled.

  • It doesn't work when scaling is enabled because although the sprite is the size of the window, because the display is scaled it is resized and no longer appears to be the size of the window.

This is a little tricky to solve - you need to resize the sprite larger by the amount the layer has been scaled. TBH, canvas snapshotting wasn't really designed with this in mind.

  • See how to make a platform game. You need a rectangular collision mask for animations to work properly, usually handled by an invisible object behind the player.

  • This is a bug/limitation in our UI library. It would be difficult to change. For now workaround by opening the color picker dialog and choosing the RGB values.

  • This is by design. It is to help soften the edges of sprites, and ensure edges are blended the same way as transparency inside the image. See this image:

    <img src="http://www.scirra.com/images/crop1pxborder.png" border="0" />

The left images are cropped with no border, and the right images are cropped with a 1px transparent border. The top image is a tiny 6x6 sprite scaled up large, and the bottom image is just an ordinary 32x32 sprite rotated slightly.

Notice with no border two problems occur:

    • top image: transparency inside the image blends smoothly, but the edges are hard, which is inconsistent. With the 1px transparent border it is treated the same way over the whole image.
    • bottom image: edges appear 'hard'. With a 1px transparent border the image has 'soft' edges which looks better quality, because it allows the edges to linear blend to transparency.

When cropping the origin, image points and collision poly are also offset by 1px so it should realistically have no impact on the behavior of the game.

Does this really cause any practical difficulties? I think it's a nice tweak to ensure the best quality display of graphics, especially on rotated sprites.

  • You're asking for an event which says "Pick the instance of Bar whose Bar.PinnedUID expression matches the currently picked Foo UID". This is not easy to express in Construct 2's event system in a single condition. It goes against the typical way conditions work. To be honest I don't see anything wrong with the first or second examples. I guess containers would help here as well, they're still on our todo list.
