  • Games with values of dt above 0.1 tend to become unstable. Everything is stepping so far often collisions are missed and the player can effectively teleport around.

So how does it help prevent cheating to allow this? It seems like it will make cheating worse. Set your FPS to 1 while running towards a wall and you can teleport through it. However with the current design, you would probably still bump in to it.

A better way to handle this would be to require a minimum FPS of 15 or something, and don't allow scores to be registered for them. Or keep separate scoreboards for slow devices and fast devices based on average FPS - you don't want to annoy or blame users who just legitimately have very slow systems.

  • Sargas - if you can (back up then) delete as much of your project as possible while still having something that reliably shows the issue, that should do. It's also helpful if you test as many browsers as possible, and on different computers, and let us know if it's the same everywhere or just one computer. The problem is even if it's the same everywhere, it could just be a mistake in your events, and it changed recently due to a breaking change or something else altered in the engine rather than a bug.

  • Hmm, I just checked, HTML files open as text and I can't find a way to really view them. Still, nice to have another decent spot to share .capx files.

  • Does anyone know if it works for hosting Construct 2 games like Dropbox used to before they stopped adding the Public folder to new accounts? Would be nice to have another service that can do that.

  • Hmm... still looks fine on two computers that I've tried now.

Sounds like it might be an issue with the effects system... in which case, do you have the latest graphics card drivers?

  • Erndog2k - hmm, it would be better if Construct 2 did something like handle it quietly rather than throw up those ugly error messages. Can you reproduce the problem in a new .capx file so I can investigate?

  • Is this a game made in Construct 2? If not we will close this post since it's not what this forum is for. Please also reply promptly since no response will be interpreted as "no".

  • Your video shows orange flames which flicker.

In your .capx I see blue flames which do not flicker.

Not sure what's going on here, seems we're seeing different things. Did you test different browsers? Are all browsers the same?

  • Hmm, is your server set up to work with unicode? It would be nice if we could prevent exported projects going wrong if you used special characters. We can't fix misconfigured servers, but if it's C2's fault we might be able to help.

  • Please see how to report bugs. It is extremely difficult to do anything about a problem without a .capx file, and steps to reproduce the problem. It will help me fix the problem even quicker if you can provide a minimal .capx designed from scratch which reproduces the problem.

  • I am using r103.2, and everything works fine. Can you provide any extra information about the problem? For example does it do it on other computers or just yours? What about if you try other browsers?

  • Try Construct 3

  • It looks like there's a syntax error in one of your expressions: it just says 'Particles' where it needs a full expression, on line 1831 of the file. It is impossible to help further without a better description of the problem, or your .capx file. Please see how to report bugs.

  • It might be a bug in Awesomium. You might want to tell them about it. But without specific information on which versions of which operating systems are affected it's hard to help any further.

  • Everyone makes arguments like this about each individual limitation in the free edition, but ultimately we have to put limits in the free edition otherwise we would never sell anything and have to shut down the company!

Preview on LAN basically shows you what you see if you export, upload to your server, then browse to it on the device - but it makes that workflow instant. So just imagine you can do that whole process instantly.
