I noticed that I have construct CLASSIC. Is there a version that you have to pay for? Will it always be free? Is there a version coming that you have to pay for?

Not for Construct Classic which is free and open source. It is also still in development by some members from the community.

Plus, once Construct 2 has an .exe exporter (aren't you fed up with hearing me say that? ), it'll be well worth the money.
