  • Im just asking a general question to users who wouldn't mind answering.

It might be interesting to see the dominant age group in the community.

Also it might be cool to see why your using Construct2, If you have lived a long programming life and can't be arsed with it anymore..? <img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

    So about me:

       - Im 17 years old.

       - I have been a self taught programmer for two years(yes since 15!!!)

       - I first came across Construct2 on a blog post my Emmanuele Feronato.

       - I enjoy programming but it takes a long time to achieve a good outcome, I worked with someone with some fame. He was a professional Athlete. I produced a IPhone application for him, And a game. But im trying to make the game again in C2. <img src="smileys/smiley4.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

    So what about you?

  • I'm 23 years old, the only programming experience I have is with Multimedia Fusion 2 (If that counts).I think the first time that I heard about Construct was in a fangame topic on the old Castlevania antichapel forum however I have only just recently started paying close attention to it because I'm tired of waiting around for MMF 3 and more importantly because construct 2 looks like it could greatly simplify the creation of my game ideas.

  • -Im oldskool old lol 37

    -10 years programming experience C++,C#

-I Am an artist for 21 years now

-I have been here when it was only Classic Construct at Scirra

-Construct 2 is good but still lacks a few things

-Im still having too much fun with Classic Construct though

  • -I'm 21 years old

    -Not too interested in programming

    -Pixel artist

    -Web designer

-Used MMF2 for a long time, then found out about CC (good ol' C.0x)

-Been here for little over a year

    -TF2 player ;)

  • I've been here since the dawn of time.

I am 32 years old, and found Construct Classic when it was still somewhere around version 0.3(ish) after looking for some of the old "Tigerworks" (which is Ashley) stuff for MMF.

    The rest is history.

My professional background is in computing (both technical and retail), however I now own two businesses... a computer repair partnership, and a web/design firm.

I look forward to using C2 more and more, to work with my HTML5 web component. *pokes Ashley for that CC update* But still really love CC for making "games".

  • I'm 29, working in a totally different field with a remote interest in making games since young. I'm happier with the design/planning/dreaming phase so programming being too much of a hurdle to train for, i was looking for a way around.

I found Construct about a year ago through Konkaj's blog, and still find it hardly accessible (did you see the lerp stuff? all these numbers?), so I am still in the approach phase, ripping out open all these innocent caps grazing the forum grass to understand how they work, with mitigated successes so far.

    (and i'm a TF2 player too ^^)

  • Boy am I old.....43 years of age

    • from Germany
    • Diploma in medical Computer Sience
    • basic knowledge of C/C++, Java, PHP, (My)SQL and JavaScript
    • former IT-Project and Prozess Manager (been working as this fo aboout 20 years)
    • I stumbled over c2 in another board covering 3d Animation
  • 20 years old, from Australia. Convert from Construct Classic (my old forum name was Drew Carey (awesome gimmick), I made a couple iterations of a little physics sandbox game with destructible objects) which I used for about a year after being recommended it by a friend.

After that, I put some time into learning Torquescript working with TGE 1.5, and then moved on to learning some web design and PHP/Javascript. I like to think I'm "proficient but unmotivated", I've coded from scratch a small grid-based game example and an almost-working isometric renderer for the HTML5 canvas, but I'm a notorious non-finisher.

When I had a good look at Construct 2 I was naturally fairly impressed, and being familiar with Classic it was an instant buy (especially discounted!) knowing full well they deserve my money. Really looking forward to families support hopefully in the next update as portended on the Scirra tweetybook, as generic object behaviours are essential to larger projects.

  • Age 27 (1/5th of my lifespan)

Programming has been a lifelong interest.

Maxis' "Klik n Play" was the first game creation program I had the pleasure of using and by logical progression I came to use Construct.

  • Thanks every one for answering <img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

Im surprised to see how many programmers are using this engine. Its a great engine, And In my eyes it is a form of programming it just like copy and pasting code you have allready written a million times, With a little extra help :).

One day when i can be arsed im going to get into Software programming, Allthough games programming in my thing :) its what i know.

I recently got offered a place at the university of Hull, and derby for game programming courses. <--- these are pretty good uni's. Im pretty sure it's because i developed a iphone app and game for someone relatively famous. <img src="smileys/smiley4.gif" border="0" align="middle" /> at the age of 17!

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Hoho quite an interesting topic!

Well I'm also 27 year old

    I'm currently a 3D modeling/texturing artist in a little game company.

    on this project http://ironmeka.com/

I'm a self taught programmer. I've been into medical school from 2001 to 2006 (while I learnt html/css/php and a bit of javascript) and then I switched to artschool from 2007 to 2011.

I began using mmf2 near february 2010 at school for little homework projects. I discovered Construct Classic near the end of 2010 (konjak mentionned it on his website so I though it was worth a try).

Instantly pleased, I took the risk to do my degree on it.

It turned out well. I posted a topic on it last summer :D

    http://www.scirra.com/forum/topic43211_post269710.html

Anyway now I switched to construct 2 'cause it's so much easier to share and well... html5 is the future :D

Also I'm interested in gameplay around ipad-like devices (you know touch, gyro, accelerometer, etc...) but I don't have any ipad yet so that will wait...

I still use CC to build some script for work like xml for batch rendering on xNormal or some pixel manipulation thingy.

  • Yann Do you know Laura Csajagi ?

  • 30 years old, started 15yrs ago with couple paper/pencil games for friends. After that I found QBasic (few text adventure games and a platformer), loved that program. Then 1/2 year playing with Warcraft 3 editor - it's very easy, yet powerful. Their scripting editor remind me kind of Construct's event editor - screen. I've made only one "defend the tree" map.

Than I hadn't been doing anything until I found Construct 3 years ago. Don't remember how I found it, but here I am, 3 years later, still in love.<img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle">

  • Thanks I feel cool now I know about two(out if many) of the smartest users on the forum!!! <img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

Your life sounds like mine lool just 10 years ahead!! I have had many interests that i though I wanted a career in, first science(vet), then art I done some concept art for a few companies and right now it's computing!! I also am a self taught programmer because thats what cool 17 year old boys do <img src="smileys/smiley4.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • Noga, cool!! I have neve seen another engine similar to C2. Do any compare in quality?? I'm also in love with C2 and the community, they have a really good community.
