  • Hey all, I know there is an unofficial Discord, but I was curious why there has not been an official one. Is there a post I should read or a statement from the Devs?

I am surprised, as it is a much better place for Construct Devs to quickly be able to engage with other engine users and network, as well as just being easier for people to remain engaged around a community using the same software while they display and get help on their own projects, even just user showcases are super helpful.

I understand forums are effective, but I look at Godot's Discord, GDevelops, and even Unity's, and it clearly does help centralise the community without people fragmenting away to other engines, keeping the core community engaging with each other. As mentioned above, the ease of sharing, helping, and generally a united hub can be very effective.

Would love to hear why Construct has remained one of the few engines without an official Discord hub for its members and devs to engage with each other. I do acknowledge Discord and other hubs like Reddit and Twitter have their downsides too.

  • I thought the unofficial discord is basically the official one. All an official discord would change is maybe moderation by Scirra staff instead of community members?

Anyways, I suspect the reason they never made an official one is simply because they never made one, and there’s no point of making an official one now since the unofficial one is well established and an effective hub in all the ways you noted.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Thanks for the response, I'll have to have another look at the unofficial one, I was not sure it was active still.

Very surprised they never made one, and you may be right, they may just never had done so haha. Seems it's become a key tool for creative and dev communities to stay engaged, especially if the Devs engage with their community there.

I'll check it out, hopefully we hear from a dev too!
