  • Has anyone ever heard Game-Editor?

its an open source cross platform game maker.

I'm not a programmer but I found it when I was looking

for Free Game Makers before I found construct.

The only down fall I found with it is I don't think its

Drag n drop like Construct. I think it requires scripting

to make games. Don't quote me on that though I haven't tried to use it.

But I was wondering if anyone on here has?

  • Yeah i have used it before. I'm an engine hunter after all. From what i last saw i found it's workflow a bit cumbersome. Feature wise it's more 'advanced' than C2 but i didn't like the way the editor is organized etc. It appears to export to Win Mac Linux and iOS devices, natively so that's a plus compared to C2. More Info

  • So it's more advanced then C2?

I thought it was pretty cool too but I haven't tried to use it yet.

I downloaded some examples from their forum to try and learn it but right now I'm trying to learn Construct Classic.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • It's is also extremely costly if you wish to sell your creation.

Look at THIS page and you'll see that you will need a license that will cost from US$99 up to a staggering US$1499 A YEAR!

Also, look at the games that have been created and IMO C2's Arcade already has much better quality and diversity.

  • I tried this app before but i didn't like it that much. There is another game making app called tululoo which is a html5 games maker ,and you don't need a license to sell your creations with tululoo. It still uses scripting though , but it's 100% free.

  • Tried this before finding Construct. Can't say I'm a fan, but then again I didn't give it much of a chance.

  • Yeah. I haven't tried it yet but it looks complicated. I also like Construct but If your into Game Making Then you can never have too many Game Maker Programs. Especially if you don't have much programming skills.

I also have Game Maker by mark overmars but theres a decompiler for the games you make with it. and I like construct because as far as I know there's not a decompiler for the games you make with it. I know about the licensing of Game-Editor but it is expensive, your right about that!

  • Well i tested it again and when i found that you can't rotate/scale an actor in the scene editor i closed it and wiped it out from my HD right away. Yeah it has potential but it's badly executed. Anyways, i've tried that Tuloloo and it looks promising. Uses direct scripting which i prefer since i like the keyboard better than the mouse ;D The problem is that it tries to emulate Game Maker workflow a little.. That's bad.

I bought their $99 license a few years ago when it looked like a good idea. They seem to be going in different directions. On the same page that they say they are open source and completely free, they want you to pay $1500. Not clear. Their tool was interesting, but not that compelling. Nothing to see here, move along. <img src="smileys/smiley36.gif" border="0" align="middle">
