  • Anyone going? It's a 48 hr game making event / competition where game makers all over the world meet up, form teams and see what they can come up with based on a central theme. I'll be at the London location, which is maxed out with 70 registrations (registration ends tomorrow).

Pretty stoked, I expect it'll be a lot of fun but also quite exhausting. Our locations going to be open for the full 48 hrs so I think I'll just bring a couple blankets and crash in a corner for a bit at some point.

Who knows, maybe I'll even get to work in C2... but it also depends on what the rest of the team will feel like. <img src="smileys/smiley4.gif" border="0" align="middle">

  • This looks like an awesome event. Sadly I'm too far away from the venue lol. I'd suggest you'd form a team beforehand so that you'd at least be able to estimate your uhhh "Success Rate"?. Like someone will do the graphics, and some will be for sound etc.

  • They actually ask you not to come with teams pre-formed. I think the idea is just to have some fun and work with some people you haven't worked with before. Who knows, maybe I'll be the most experienced person on the team, maybe I'll be the noob. Either way I'm not so much worried about getting 1st, I just want to have a good time since I haven't done something like this in a while and if you end up hating the people after 48hrs you never have to see them again. <img src="smileys/smiley36.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • Yeah I guess that makes sense. That makes the competition hot due the randomness.

  • I just signed up for the one being hosted at my college, the New Jersey Institute of Technology. Can't wait to participate, it sounds really exciting. <img src="smileys/smiley4.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • I might come along. Im only 17 but im pretty experienced with AS3. Does the rules say anything about coding languages??

  • I might come along <img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle" />. I live in London.

Im only 17 but im pretty decent at AS3, Is there any rules on programming languages?

  • I'll be participating at PUCPR here in Curitiba. As of now it seems to be the world's largest jam site with 196 jammers.

Construct is the ideal software to use in jams since it doesn't waste the majority of your time with coding.

The last two editions we used CC for our entries, but this year I'm considering using C2. Let's see, depending on the game idea I'll choose the more appropriate one.

  • Oh, you can use Construct? Wow, that's awesome. I was planning on sitting on the sidelines as more of an idea guy, maybe some art or music, since I'm not a good enough programmer to make a real game. If I have C2 in my hands... I might be the lead of the whole team! <img src="smileys/smiley36.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • If you want to sign, hurry cause it ends today :) The location I'm going to is full but I think you can still sign up just in case somebody else cancels. Also some have age restrictions, eg 18+, you have to do a search for a location in your area and then check out their page.

Yes, you can use whatever tools the team agree to.

Damn, 196 that's HUGE. I thought Vancouver was going to take the crown with 162, I think they've been biggest in the past but 196 is just crazy <img src="smileys/smiley29.gif" border="0" align="middle" /> Let us know what it's like! I'm going to bring my camera and take lots of regular pictures and screenshots of progress.

  • I guess you guys will bring quite a bunch of new users to C2 by monday <img src="smileys/smiley4.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • The admin for the event at my college (New Jersey Institute of Technology) is interested in using Construct 2 for the Game Jam. We received time-limited but otherwise fully functional Game Maker HTML5 licenses, and he was wondering if there was any possibility of getting a similar sponsorship from Scirra for Construct 2. He should be sending along an email tonight; unfortunately, the event starts Friday, so it's kind of short notice...

    So Ashley, Tom, what do you think? <img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • Yes, we're sponsoring some events on an individual basis and are happy to have people email us. Short notice is fine!

  • Great! Thanks for the quick response. What information should he include in the email Tom?

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • We would need number of attendees, location, as well as a brief overview of what he could offer us in ways of promotion (for example a tweet, a mention at the event, nothing major!).

We can't provide financial aid, but what we have been doing is giving free licenses to the event that they can use as prizes.

If he's interested he's free to drop me an email!
