  • In terms of self-publishing, I'm curious if anyone has had any real success with a Kickstarter? The majority of the people/companies who I've read about and who have had *any* success with a Kickstarter are people/companies who have actually had a game already published.

It's sort of a chicken-or-the-egg thing. You can't get people to fund you until you have something out there, but you can't get anything out there until you have funding.

Anyone have any experience with this since I'm hoping to start a Kickstarter?

  • It helps to be fairly well know in your niche.

Edgar, and Mike of Spriter/ Brashmonkey are probably the most successful for Kickstarter around here.

Course thats not exactly a game either.

For that you will have to go beyond indie circles.

    Every little bit will help.

Yeah, I hear you. As you said, it sounds like the game (or most people's games) will have to branch out of the indie circles.

  • Actually if you have a game already lets say %20 done with high quality art assets , you have a chance. Most of the games I seen really do well are console based as far as graphics.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads

Yeah, that's kind of what I've seen in the past. Sadly, that is the approach I may take (make the art assets and a visual demo first).
