Announcement before publishing

I just want to ask, if someone announced a game before publishing, and added screenshots & a teaser trailer, will he will get more views & plays to his game?

Since I read this strategy in an article and it is like free advertise to your game before publishing.

When a band releases a new album, don't they make a huge deal about it first, with teasers and such?

When a new movie's coming out... etc.. etc..

No one knows if these things are any good before they come out (how could they?), so you have to convince them it's worth their time/money! Get them excited about something they can't even have yet, so when they can, they'll be sure and get it.

Make sure that your games are good ... then think about marketing.
