A pack of 76 platform designs for a platformer game with a mushroom/jungle theme
  • I think video tutorials are only practical for very simple examples/games. I agree though it would be much nicer. I started to try it for my adventure tutorial but gave up because on how time consuming it was. You have to be able to add everything flawlessly the first time, which is rarely the case.

  • Hello Deadeye,

First and foremost thank you for these tutorials. I have encountered a problem with Part5 of the tutorial. I am unable to activate the speed boost(X button) after picking up the icon.

  • Was this tutorial ever updated to work with Construct 0.99.62?

If not can someone point me to a good platform one?

    Thanks

  • So far you have been awesome deadeye, and still are, but i think this thread has died.

  • It's not dead, it's on hiatus. I don't want to keep having to rewrite the tutorials every time there is a new version out. I've already had to rewrite them four times. I'll just wait until Construct is closer to v1.0.

Until then, use v0.98.9 to go through the tutorials. There's still some good info in there, even though some of it is outdated. There's a link in the OP.

  • I've just been given word that there shouldn't be any breaking changes between now and the v1.0 launch. What that means is that Platform School is back in session.

Dust off your Pee Chee folders (do kids still use those?) and pack your Lunchables because I'm going to start rewriting these later today. They're going to be completely overhauled from start to finish. It's going to be some time before we're back on track, so bear with me. I have heard though that there's a hot new feature in v0.99.8 which should make this ordeal a lot easier (something about copying events from one .cap to another).

Anyway, I hear the schoolbus coming... get out there before you miss it. And I have a late meeting so mom's going to be picking you up from soccer practice later.

  • ALSO:

In an effort to keep things relevant and readable, I will be closing this old thread and starting a new one. There is just so much confusing and conflicting information in it and it's such a long and unwieldy mess that I think it needs a fresh start. So... go hog wild! Post while you can! This is your last chance to get in on this wonderful and amazing historic thread. Let's give this bastard a decent sendoff.

Farewell, old thread... may flights of bacon fairies sing thee to thy rest...

  • Try Construct 3

  • Something like #include for Construct would be nice...

  • in before lock!

Hey I've never had the chance to say that before

But yay for rewriting the tutorials, can't wait!

  • Something like #include for Construct would be nice...

I don't know what this means!

Here is a gif of a cat eating corn:

Do you mean something different to the existing 'Include event sheet'?

    Yes, I do.

  • So basically "include" other .cap projects?

  • I saw that video of the cat eating corn on youtube!

  • I am VERY excited about your platform tutorial deadeye. I am very close to finishing up my first (learning) game and really want to do a platform one. You explanations in other posts are incredable, and many times you make up examples. You are a credit to this group.

..and thanks for redoing this tutorial (again).
