Set of tiles to create a map for top-down fantasy RPG games with village theme
  • Hi guys!

    I made a game! It's kinda good!

    Check it out at http://gamejolt.com/freeware/games/arca ... oter/1407/

You play as a robber who has to pick up as much loot as he can carry.

Gameplay is very fun! It needed some tweaking, but I didn't have the time to do it... Once I get back, I'll improve my level design.

Have fun! Tell me what you think! I want to continue working on this one!

  • there seems to be a bug with the sound. When you stop walking, all sounds get paused.

Are you playing everything on the same channel? that could be the reason.

    Edit: aw, just one level?

  • Pretty nice game. I like the idea of the loot being a bigger part of the actual gameplay, shortening your jumps and distracting villagers with loot.

There are a few things that could be improved. Your screen real estate ismostly covered with stuff. Less than half of the screen contains the actual gameplay. Your interface could use some tweaking. There really is no sense in displaying the game logo during gameplay, it only takes up screen space.

I understand the idea with the treasure bag, and it's a neat effect. However, I find it extremely difficult to throuw stuff out of the bag and have it land where I want (why the sine behaviour when dragging btw?). I think it would work better if the treasure bag was smaller (reducing screen presence) and instead of dragging stuff out of the bag you could just click on the item you want to throw and he throws it in the direction he's looking. At first I thought I'd suggest just having it be a simple buttonpresss, but then you wouldn't be able to chose which item to discard.

  • Thanks for the replies guys!

Yeah, I noticed the sound bug, but I couldn't solve because I'm away from my PC. The problem is I assigned a channel to the steps, and the other files are played automatically. So something must be going wrong with this.

About the screensize, this was part of the experience. I'd like the game to have a small play area + big mouse grabbing bag.

The dragging needs to be improved: The "sine behavior" you mentioned happens because it's setting the force according to the distance with your mouse, but it doesn't reach it so it keeps adding forces and the object keeps orbiting around it

About the levels: I want to make a larger level instead of several small ones. This was supposed to be a arcade game where you play in order to improve your high score. But I'm also considering adding levels and some background story.

I think that if you add more levels+story it would be much better than just trying to beat the score (much more work also ). I've tried play the game twice and than nothing pushes me to play more (beating score isn't enough).

  • Hey, nice feedback Noga!

I'll definetly do a level based game!

I uploaded a slighly different version now, that solved the sound bug.

  • Nice to see the loot has physics and that it moves around, when you jump and go left/right.

Tutorial is also good and fun.

  • The graphics are pretty cool. But, I have a bit of a problem with the small screen size.
