We'll complete first platform movement engine shortly. This game will be a tough approach but we're quite experienced creators ^^.

We're looking for programmers (Construct), graphicians and music/sound makers. If you'd like to join, let us now.

  • WOW the art is very nice . I'm usually not a fan of fan games, but that's because nobody ever does anything special with them. But the art in this is pretty special.

Tell Mr. Holowko "good job" for me (unless that's you, and if so... good job!)

  • yea man, mr. Holowko here. thx for posting replay. We areverry comited to this project, spending all of our free time working on it.

  • This appears really quite good so far!

I hope we don't get tiny particle effects but rather some nice big meaty effects!

Is this a remake of a particular metroid game? or is it your own fan game?

  • Oh that's awesome. I love metroid

  • looks damn good, im kinda on the same page as dead eye, never really been a fan of fan games, unless you do something original with them, is it just a metroid remake or...

  • ... original new story. yes. original soundtrack. yes. new stuff. yes.

  • Very impressive! Im envious of the art....

  • i always think that instead of making a fangame, it's better to just make an original game (original characters, etc) but still adopt whatever gameplay mechanics you want. it just gives you more flexibility that way -- not only in respect to gameplay, but also as far as distributing and promoting your game because you won't be using someone else's IP.

with that said, the art shown so far is definitely nice and i'll be keeping an eye on it (already subscribed to your blog rss)

That's really only a problem if they try to sell it. Which would be silly. Nintendo is very tolerant of fan-made games. As far as I know they've never issued a C&D to anyone for making a free fan game. Considering the staggering amount of them it's probably not worth their time. Plus it's kind of a dick move to pull on your fans.

As a personal choice, I wouldn't ever make a fan game because I just don't feel right about using someone else's stuff. It's an originality thing. But I have played a few really good fan games, so they can be done right. It's just a sad fact that most of them aren't.

As for this game, I think doing the art in this painterly style is a good step towards "done right."

I have to ask... is this a real term or does it just sound like it should be?

    (also, very nice spritework)

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Update:

    Graphicians... well, Graphic Artists ^^.

And as for music/sound: apparently we're looking for Sound Effects Designers.

  • you should cross it with castlevania S.o.N.

some sort of level up thing.

  • you should cross it with castlevania S.o.N.

some sort of level up thing.

While Castlevania SotN is a great game, I think that would ruin what the metroid series is all about.

This game looks like so much fun to make.. argh

  • so i`ve got to the point where i realised that i did draw tilesets in two difrent styles. i like both and i dont know whiche one would be beether in our metroid game. so would you please tell me which one you prefer by compering thise to screenies.

    thanks!

style 1 - more super metroid style

style 2 - more zero mission style
