• Hello all, I'm a newbie to both Construct and Game Creating more so the (engine in general) I understand that Construct is suppose to be an game creation tool with little to no coding experience (WHICH I LOVE ABOUT IT). I also understand that Construct or Construct Classic, even Construct 2 has bugs in the engine. I understand that this is and open source tool and the bugs are being taking care of by the Construct Community Which is awesome

Just to give you a little example of what what game I would like to create. I would like to create a 2D action Platformer with an menu system for power ups, A currency system for buying items, An area where you can talk to various townfolk for hints. a save game feature. And of course a boss fight every now an then in certain levels

My BIGGEST question to you all and I would like and HONEST and your BEST opinion... Is Construct Classic able to do the following which I listed in the previous paragraph? Or should look into different engines like Multimedia Fusion 2, Gamemaker 8, etc. I am also open to any help or suggestion, Reason why I ask this is because I see alot of unfinished projects in Construct, now is because of the bugs not being iron out yet? a day ago I saw a video for a game called the Iconoclasts created by Indie developer Konjak which looks amazing which is also made in Construct. But I don't think he is done with it yet.

    Thank you for your time

  • Construct can absolutely do everything you mentioned.

As far as I'm aware, incomplete projects are usually because of a lack of time, assets or motivation rather than bugs.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • Khalan is right, construct classic is more than capable of doing what you listed.

I think the biggest reason there are so few completed projects with construct classic is because of people underestimating the task of making a game! My game was supposed to be simple, and yet almost three years later I'm still working on it! Of course, I am making an RPG, even if it's a small one. They seem so simple until you try to make one...

I would recommend using construct two though instead. Then you won't have to deal with construct classic's quirks, you won't need users to install the latest version of directx 9, you'll have a choice of more platforms to export to, etc.

  • Thank you guys so much for you Input

I guess I was a bit discourage because of bugs reports, but apparently that's not the case at all here.

And thanks Arima I will look into Construct 2 for my game
