  • Ok - scrapping the wolf boss in my game. He's now just a regular enemy through out the level. I've extended my cave level and want to make a big tenticle snake merman head boss thing that emerges from the water under a bridge.

So the question is: How do I make this snake like movement where the head moves but the end of the body is attached to the wall/doesn't move?

Here is a video (skip to 3:20) as an example from castlevania 3. Someting tells be bone movement but I'm also seeing it as a bunch of connected sprites that mimic the movement of the head less and less as it gets closer to the base sprite...

  • Hi Damainman, I made a method that isn't too bad to implement, but needs unique sprites for each chain part.

    Here's the file: Snakehead.cap

  • Thanks Jayjay - I wasn't sure if this was covered yet or what. I searched a few things and figured it wasn't or I just had no idea what to ask for. I was hoping to draw out separate sprites for the body bits anyhow (especially for when it explodes!). I can't wait to get started on this LOL!

    Thanks a ton!

  • Worked like a charm - and then I added lots to it! Perfect. Was just doing water and reflections etc. My player sprite was not showing up. Turns out Nuovo Fill and Canvas do not get along. I technically don't need it but I'm to lazy to edit it out at the moment so it's just disabled until the player gets hit and then disabled again after the hit loop ends.

Cant wait to show this boss off!

    Thanks again!

  • No problem Damainman, glad to hear it worked out for you! =D

Looking forward to seeing how it turned out <img src="smileys/smiley17.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • Here's where it's at right now:

Claws completely drawn, animated and programed. Added water effect for under bridge with reflections. The claws come out of the water more than it shows in this picture but they cover the character when they do so I went for a balanced shot!

So now it's time to draw the giant crab body - ugh... huge sprite. I think he's also getting a spit attack where goop will fall from the top of the screen.

    Thanks again!!!

  • Looks great! <img src="smileys/smiley4.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

I'm really glad I could help in some way =]

  • Here is a vid of the whole thing in action now. There are actually 4 parts to the crab arms but two stay under water... may have to make the water a little more transparent.

    Happy Splashing Zom-crab!!!
