A simple Map Editor that where you can edit a map with restriction or totally. You can save and load the map created.
  • Err... Well, I feel kind of stupid asking this, but how do I use this? I have looked in several places and did not find a detailed guide how this works. I can only seem to import one frame and on the Wiki it says, that for several frames you need to import them BEFORE opening the editor? I can't seem to find a way to do this.

  • On the Animator bar (where all your frames are shown) click right mouse button. Theres an option Import frames, you can select few image files and they all will be imported.

  • Okay, I tried right clicking on the filmstrip but nothing happens... <img src="smileys/smiley26.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

    EDIT: Oh gosh... I figured it out... I feel stupider now. Thank you so much for the fast reply.

    On the properties of the Sprite Object I see it says "Start Animation" and is set to default. How do I set different sets of animations? (Sorry, I am real new and out of all the objects, the sprite one is the one that is giving me problems trying to figure it out...)

  • In the Animator bar - where you have all your frame animation.

    If you go up a bit you will see


       Angle: 0 (Right)

    Here by right clicking you can add new animation angles and new animation sets

  • Ahh... It seems I still have a few questions about this object, heh heh. What's the difference between, Animations and Sub-Animations? I think I know what angles are, I think they are actual directions of a given animation... Say I have a Walking animation, I think angles are used to determine what animation should be used to when you are facing up, right, down or left. Is that right?

    To be more specific, I am working on an RPG game, and say I have battle animations for a given character. Now This character has: Defend animation, normal attack and some skill animation. Where do sub-animations and animations come in here? What should I use for different animations for one character?

    yeah that's correct.

    and sub animations...don't have to use that really. You can do the same with regular animations.

    Basicaly sub anims been made for something like this:

    Imagine you have an animation with your character walking left, and now you would like to have it few kinds of weapons. You could do that with sub animations.

    Animation Character walking left

    • Sub animation: Axe
    • Sub animation: Knife
    • Sub animation: Bannana


    I never found any good reason for using sub animation. All you want to do can be done by normal animation. It's your choice :)

  • Thanks alot, that cleared it up! SO I guess Sub-Animations would be Sub-folders for variations of a given animation. I guess it's just to keep it organized, but doesn't affect the workings of the game.
