  • Just a quick word to say that I'm of the ones who'd really like a microphone object.

Why? For recording sound and detect if the mic hears sound at the moment.

No need for a voice recognition system, I know you must work for the secret services to have a good one. Just a microphone object, that also detects if there is sound, or not (and maybe detecting if there is huge noise, low sound, or nothing.)

    Would be REALLY useful.

And I think about another very useful thing for a while. It's an explorer object. It could be an instance of the Windows Explorer. Would be useful for - inter alia - saving files, or savegames where the user wants to, or to select a file to play/view/modify/open.

    Voil.

Just ideas like that. Is there anybody else who would like to have those objects too?

The common dialog object allows you to show save/load dialog boxes where you can browse through folders.

  • Try Construct 3

  • Cool!

Now we just need a browse-folders object (explorer object). ...or maybe ther is already one?

  • The common dialog object actually has a folder selector dialog as well, which I assume is what you're looking for.

  • Oh yeah, you right! Cool! And thanks!

So maybe I also missed a microphone option in an object? Is there already something to use the microphone too?

  • Unfortunately, there's no object that handles microphone input. Somebody would have to write a new plugin for that functionality. I was looking into it earlier, but I couldn't find much information on getting input from a microphone.

  • Hmm, I'm sure it's not the most difficult imput...

USB or FireWire are probably more complexe.

We need what exactly? C libraries about that?

I'm sorry, I don't know that much about programming yet.

I dunno if it helps but you could look into how video chatting setups work, webcam/mic systems, the way programs like Skype, MSN, so on and so forth deal with the microphones. Or even open source methods used for realtime chatting in games (there's bound to be open source variations on how to do that), the latter will probably have way more info about it.
