  • Hi,

    the Construct's camera is a 3D camera?

If yes, can you make this camera rotate on the axis?

If no, can you make an option for a 3D camera with the possibility to rotate it?

  • Set display angle?

    Set layer angle?

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • What exactly are you going to rotate around? A flat 2D object?

Construct is a 2D application... It does not do 3D. I really wish people would stop asking how to do 3D this and 3D that with Construct.

  • It might be, but this idea would only work if the sprites was always "looking" at you.

Anyone who has played Super Smash Bros. and has seen the items would notice that the items are just "sprites" (2D textured planes that always face the camera).

I think it would be a lot of trouble for the developers, but a plug in that acted like the 3D box, but with the ability to "Map" a sprite to its coordinates would be cool.

  • Currently the camera is stuck looking down at the layout. It might be possible to support a camera that can be located at any position and looking at any position in Construct 2, however, even if that is possible, we'll still be focusing on Construct as a 2D game creator.

    Do you know "Mode 7"?

the "Mode 7" is a REALLY OLD 2D technique that transform 2D planes in fake 3D planes. It was used in games like Mario Kart if I remember correctly.

Why use "Mode 7" when we can use "REAL", FAST 3D?

Construct wouldn't become a 3D tool just for this.

AND I'm not asking how to do 3D.

  • If you're looking to make simple Mode-7 style effects, or even a raycaster-type engine, check out David's Wolfenstein demo:

Using this method you can make awesome stuff like this:

It's all rather advanced though, so good luck.

  • I'm looking for a Mode 7 effect for an RPG.

  • It'd be doable via a plugin, you could hire someone to make it.

  • I'm looking for a Mode 7 effect for an RPG.

If you fiddle with the "camera" math in David's example, you can achieve that effect.

Like I said, though, it's somewhat advanced.

  • couldn't you just mesh distort a sprite to make the ground rotate like in mode7?

  • couldn't you just mesh distort a sprite to make the ground rotate like in mode7?

I actually did this today. I'll have to post it later as soon as I'm on my main computer.

  • obviously, but the problem lies with moving along that plane, and placing objects onto it.

the maths would get rather complex for someone who couldn't figure out a way to do this on their own.

  • What camera should i use for outdoor sports photography? My brother and i like to snowboard a lot during the year. We are looking to buy a camera for the use on the mountain. So the camera has to be durable and can withstand a fall or two into the snow. We also like to take scenic photos on hikes. we are both beginner to intermediate photographers. I would really like something that can take multiple shots back to back. What do you recommend?
