WindowsIconUpdater.exe doesn't work for icons larger than 256x256

Couldn't post a reply to this thread where the problem was originally reported as it's too old:

If anyone else encounters this issue, it looks like the icon updater won't work if the icon with Purpose = "App icon" is bigger than 256x256

For iOS/Xcode, if you set the app icon to "single size", it wants a 1024x1024 icon so that's what I'll keep in the project and just temporarily resize it down to 256x256 for the webview2 export.

The Windows Icon Updater only supports icons in the sizes 16, 32, 64, 128 and 256 (IIRC because those are the only sizes Windows supports). It should ignore icons at any other size, so those shouldn't affect the way the tool works. A new empty project includes an icon sized 512, and that appears to be correctly ignored by the tool for me. If it doesn't work with some specific project configuration, please file an issue.

Ok, for anyone that comes across this post whilst searching for this error: "Failed to find or update executable file icons" shown when trying to run WindowsIconUpdater.exe:

It just means that there's no icon at 256x256 or smaller with purpose = "App icon"

If you have larger ones, they are correctly ignored.
