How do I have a player to pick up an object and able to shoot with it?

I have been able to implement a shooting mechanic and it was easy. But for some reason after I design a second frame where I drew the player character holding a gun, made an event that allowed the character to switch to that frame when gotten the gun sprite and implemented as a requirement for the player to get the gun in order to shoot. But for some reason, I can change to the second frame just fine just that I can no longer shoot. Can anyone help me? This is the layout to where I put in my attempt of fusing the changing of frame and the shooting mechanics all together.

I have also attempt to change it to a single frame of a different "animation" and I am using Construct 3

'On collision' is a trigger - it only happens once per collision, so you can't bury the space-bar code under it - it won't be reached. You need to move that out with some other condition to activate it. You can use a Group, or just check that the frame = 1.
