  • Hi everyone,

Optimizing Large Character Animations for Web & Mobile: Seeking the Most Stable Skeletal Animation Workflow

I’m developing a project in Construct 3 that features a large main character with extensive animation sets. Since I am targeting both Mobile and Web platforms, performance and initial load times are my top priorities.

I've ruled out PNG sequences due to the massive memory footprint (RAM) they require on mobile devices. I am now looking for the most reliable Skeletal Animation solution to keep the file size minimal and the movements fluid.

I’ve been looking into Spine, Spriter, and DragonBones, but I’m concerned about plugin stability and long-term compatibility with Construct 3's frequent updates.

I would appreciate your expert advice on:

Cross-Platform Stability: Which tool/plugin currently offers the most stable performance across iOS, Android, and Desktop browsers?

Future-Proofing: Since this is a long-term project, I need a workflow that won't break with new C3 releases. Is Spine’s official integration the safest bet despite the licensing cost?

C3 Native Tools: is it feasible to rig a complex character entirely within Construct 3 to avoid third-party dependencies?

I want to avoid a situation where a C3 update halts my development because of a broken third-party plugin. What is the "industry standard" for professional C3 developers today?

I'm very sorry if this is too long.

And Thank you for your time and help!
