Objects in newly created layer disappear behind "gray background"

Hi! In image 1 by blackbox is in the "Exam" Layer which appears normal.

When I move the blackbox into the "Paper" or "Background" layer it hides behind the "grey carpet". I'm super confused about this, I went onto the manual, forums and youtube videos but I can't find information about this particular issue.

I think it's probably that your "Exam" layer isn't set to Transparent, so when objects go onto layers below it, they aren't visible. To change it, just go to the Layer Properties bar and check the box that says "Transparent". :)

Thanks! I did not see that in the documentation and never knew about it!
